The Temple Institute is Pleased to Announce that Production of 120 Sets of Linen Garments for Lay Priests is Presently Underway
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1,938 years the linen garments of the lay priests are being produced in preparation for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple and the renewal of the Divine service. The last priestly garments to have been worn were those worn by the priests who were martyred by the Roman legions who brutally invaded and destroyed the Holy Temple on the ninth day of the month of Av, in the year 70 CE. THE TEMPLE INSTITUTE HAS SPARED NO EFFORT in procuring the necessary materials for the performing of this Torah commandment, and once again has enlisted 21st century technology in order to do so in a manner befitting the Torah injunction that these priestly garments be "both dignified and beautiful". (Exodus 28:40)
SPECIALLY PREPARED FLAXEN THREAD, wound into six-ply strands, according to the Torah prescribed requirement, ("twined linen - shesh mushzar"), has been imported from India. These individual spools of thread are presently being spun into larger 1.7 meter long spindles in order to accomodate the next step: the weaving of bolts of fabric 1.7 meters wide. Before commencing this process, (known in Hebrew as hashtayah), of creating the 1.7 meter spindles, Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, founder of the Temple Institute made the traditional shechechiyanu blessing expressing gratitute to G-d " ...for keeping us alive and preserving us and permitting us to behold this day." In addition, before every step of the manufacturing process, a special statement of intent must be uttered in Hebrew: "L'shem mitzvat assei assiyat bigdei hakehuna: for the sake of the positive commandment to make the priestly garments."

“There are no specific biblical prophecies being fulfilled today wrt secular Israel except in the fertile minds of some futurists.”
How about these?
#1) In the day of the Lord (Zeph 1:14-15), Gaza will be forsaken
#2) In the day of the Lord (Joel 2:1), the land of Israel will be divided by the nations (Joel 3:2)
#3) In the day of the Lord (Zech 14:2), Jerusalem will be divided.
I remember in the 1970’s the stones for the new temple were being hewn in Oklahoma.
‘Course, it was baloney.
So somebody is making shirts. There are no ramifications...yet.
This story is fine, and may be true. But I wouldn’t consider this evidence that a temple is being rebuilt soon. When I see them laying the foundation AND beginning work on the walls I will be less skeptical
>>As I recall, isnt this supposed to be one of the signs of the end times and the return of our Lord?<<
No.
But the rebuilding of the temple is.
But this story is about clothing.
From what I can understand, topcat is living in a Christian Theological World.
Everything that happens in the world is seen through Gentile Christian glasses.
The only Jews that exist to him are people who have converted to Christianity.
From what I can understand everyone else is either an impostor or delusional.
You’re right, he seems to be overcome with “replacement” theology.
Oh well, I was just trying to help.
I don’t mean the clothing, I meant the return of the Jewish priesthood. I admit I am not up on end times prophesy.
???
What sepcifically from the Bible makes you believe these passages are being fulfilled today?
That should not be surprising since I am a Christian.
Everything that happens in the world is seen through Gentile Christian glasses.
The phrase "gentile Christian" is a non sequitur. The Bible only knows of Christians who were gentiles.
The only Jews that exist to him are people who have converted to Christianity.
Wrong again. You need to read a bit more carefully.
From what I can understand everyone else is either an impostor or delusional.
Ditto.
What some folks inaccurately refer to as "replacement theology" has essentially been the uniform theology of Christs Church for almost 2000, until a few of semi-literate "Bible teachers" as ignorant of Church history as they were of theology decided what their followers needed a more Judeo/Israel-centric view of the Bible. Thus the children of futurist dispensationalists like CI Scofield popularized this new theology and demonized their opponents by coining the phrase "replacement theology".
You can see this errant and aberrant Judeo/Israel-centric theology all over places by TBN from the like of John Hagee and his ilk.
Oh well, I was just trying to help.
Hope I can help.
“What sepcifically from the Bible makes you believe these passages are being fulfilled today?
Gaza has been given to the Pals.
Bush met with all parties at Camp David to discuss the “roadmap to peace” which includes the giving up of the West Bank. (dividing the State of Israel)
The Pals are demanding that Jerusalem be divided.
What specifically from the Bible makes you believe that these passages are not being fulfilled today?
“”Bible teachers” as ignorant of Church history as they were of theology decided what their followers needed a more Judeo/Israel-centric view of the Bible.”
Since almost all of scripture was written by Jews, it therefore should be relevant to have an understanding of Jewish perceptions and customs.
>>I dont mean the clothing, I meant the return of the Jewish priesthood. I admit I am not up on end times prophesy.<<
I was just trying to dissuade those who want to use this as proof that some end times thing is coming. I have my own proofs, but to use this one specifically for that purpose really IS like using the “stones for the temple being hewn right now in Oklahoma” thing that was going on in the 1970’s.
The article stands on it’s own merit and actually IS interesting.
I had an orthodox Jewish friend that told me a fascinating story about the “blue thread”. The blue dye was made from the intestines of some sort of snail. Well, the snail went extinct and there was a big controversy over what to do - Do you use some other source or just eliminate the blue thread? They finally decided to eliminate the thread.
It shows how religion can be different from business. If a manufactuer decides there is to be a blue stripe in the white seat cusions of a car and calls out in the specs what source to use for the dye, and the company that supplies it goes out of business, they find another source. After all, the main point is to make the blue stripe, not slaughter snails. But since another source couldn’t be EXACTLY the same shade of blue as the snail guts...
Such an understanding does not require a Judeo/Israel-centric reading of the Bible. Or, to put it another way, "It's not about the Jews."
What specifically from the Bible makes you believe that these passages are not being fulfilled today?
Well, I guess we have to actually look at the verses you listed.
You wrote:
#1) In the day of the Lord (Zeph 1:14-15), Gaza will be forsaken
The great day of the Lord is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness,I must be missing Gaza in that passage. And I certainly dont see any great calamities taking place today that would map to the passage.
#2) In the day of the Lord (Joel 2:1), the land of Israel will be divided by the nations (Joel 3:2)
I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.I havent seen all the nations in the Valley of Jehoshaphat lately, have you?
#3) In the day of the Lord (Zech 14:2), Jerusalem will be divided.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.Assuming a "literalist" view of prophecy, none of these events are happening today in any way, shape or form. So it is pure speculation to quote them as somehow giving evidence that modern secular Israel is pictured in any of these prophecies.
The way I read things, this is a perfect example of newspaper exegesis: Read the newspaper and then find some verse in the Bible that can be twisted to make the naïve think there is a connection. Its what taught at the Jack Van Impe School of Bible interpretation. And its why folks cant take futurists seriously.
