I was just trying to dissuade those who want to use this as proof that some end times thing is coming. I have my own proofs, but to use this one specifically for that purpose really IS like using the “stones for the temple being hewn right now in Oklahoma” thing that was going on in the 1970’s.
The article stands on it’s own merit and actually IS interesting.
I had an orthodox Jewish friend that told me a fascinating story about the “blue thread”. The blue dye was made from the intestines of some sort of snail. Well, the snail went extinct and there was a big controversy over what to do - Do you use some other source or just eliminate the blue thread? They finally decided to eliminate the thread.
It shows how religion can be different from business. If a manufactuer decides there is to be a blue stripe in the white seat cusions of a car and calls out in the specs what source to use for the dye, and the company that supplies it goes out of business, they find another source. After all, the main point is to make the blue stripe, not slaughter snails. But since another source couldn’t be EXACTLY the same shade of blue as the snail guts...
