The Limbaugh Effect on Clinton’s Texas Win
WSJ ^ | March 6, 2008 | Susan Davis

Posted on 03/07/2008 6:08:22 AM PST by fightinJAG

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh led a campaign to have his Republican followers in Texas cross party lines and vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the state’s open primary last Tuesday. Why? Because Limbaugh thinks Republicans can defeat Clinton in a general election. Plus, watching Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama bloody each other in a nomination fight is pure sport for Limbaugh conservatives.

According to exit polls, Clinton won a notably higher number of Republican voters than she has in past open primary contests. Of the 9% of voters who identified themselves as Republicans in the Democratic Primary, Obama still edged Clinton 53%-46%. However, that margin is significantly slimmer than earlier contests. In Wisconsin’s open primary, for instance, Republicans broke 72%-28% for Obama. Similarly, in Virginia’s open primary, Obama was favored 72%-23%.

Clinton unquestionably secured a Texas victory, but some locals are convinced it was a false win bolstered by dirty politics. Laura Jean Kreissl, an accounting professor at West Texas A&M University, served as an election official in Canyon, Texas on Tuesday. She contacted the Wall Street Journal to report the hijinks she observed at the four precincts that voted at her polling location.

Of the 181 voters she personally dealt with, 70 offered that they were “Rush Limbaugh voters” who were there to cast ballots for Clinton. “I’m here to vote for Hillary Clinton, I want to see the Democratic Party implode,” one voter told Kreissl, she recounted in an interview. “I was just stunned,” she said. “As an election official we can’t say anything. We just jot them down and let them vote.”

As I said, it was all about the MARGIN of victory/defeat, and every cross-over vote helped increase the Beast's margin.

That was not helpful in the least.

More developing a few days after our discussion . . .

Now, About that Texas GOP Surprise for Hillary.

Many said the Republican crossovers for Hildabeast didn't matter because (1) she was going to win anyway, and (2) more Republicans voted for Obama than the Beast.

I countered that that was not true, that EVERY crossover vote for the Beast helped her tremendously by increasing her MARGIN.

Saw this article on point today. For your consideration, if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the info. It is rather fun to see Hillary and Obama go at each other. Hope it continues right up to and including their convention! :)

Surely we aren’t down to basing our conduct on what the Rats do.

So you think the Republicans haven't done similar things in the past? It's ugly, I agree, but it is political strategy.

“If you are a “conservative” talk show host, 8 more years of Billary are money in the bank. Big time ratings. Blue = Green etc.”

Yes , good point.

Now Hannity and Rush will get to do their dumb Bill Clinton impressions for 8 more years. They think that is really funny and entertaining. I don’t know about other conservatives but 8 years was enough of hearing Bill and Hillary. I don’t even want to ever hear the Clintons even in an impression of them and I especially don’t want to see them with Hillary as president destroying my beloved capitalism , America and freedom.

The two of you get my nomination for best posts of the week.

If I’ve posted this to you before, I apologize, as I’ve put it up several times in the last few days. My Sister hadn’t voted for several decades. She registered early this year, and voted for Hillary. My niece (her Daughter) just turned 18 last year, and also voted last Tuesday for Hillary. My ex-Sister-in-law wasn’t into politics at all-also hadn’t voted for years. I saw her being interviewed on local TV the saturday morning before the election....working the phones for Hillary. Because she wants ‘free health care’ and ‘because it’s time.’ Translation: She’s been divorced three times and hates men, plus has a bad back. 51 % of the electorate are female. The black population is only 15%, and they ALWAYS vote cRAT ANYWAY. Youth don’t show up on election day-ask George McGovern. Add racism, as you said. I don’t care what people tell pollsters. So much for the Obama myth. To that 51% female group, however, Add: union families, the elderly, Those Who Love Bill and want a third term. They are legion.

Then do the math. No-they won’t get ALL those votes-but I’m willing to bet they get a winning percentage of them. They ‘can’t be elected again?’
Yeah. Right.

You got that right. I’m in my sixties-and other than the one isolated 68 debacle,(vietnam and a military draft still going on then, remember) I have seen them tear themseves apart election after election...and be in total shreds and disarray...only to reunite in the fall. All those ‘popcorn people’....who called us ‘resident lefits’ who ‘were too stupid to understand brilliand conservative strategy’...remember I said this...the dems will NOT destroy themselves.
It.
Ain’t.
Gonna.
Happen.

I know nothing about accounting other than it involves keeping track of money, but your description of Dr. Brajcich really intrigued me. I’d very much like to read something by him. I couldn’t find anything on Amazon but maybe there is something out of print.

Dr. Brajcich never published any books or articles as far as I know.

With 10 kids, teaching part-time at Gonzaga (signing his paycheck back to the university, to boot!), and maintaining a very successful tax practice in Spokane, I doubt he had much free time.
