Tiny plastic bags used to sell small quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and other drugs would be banned in Chicago, under a crackdown advanced Tuesday by a City Council committee.
Ald. Robert Fioretti (2nd) persuaded the Health Committee to ban possession of "self-sealing plastic bags under two inches in either height or width," after picking up 15 of the bags on a recent Sunday afternoon stroll through a West Side park.

“Crackdown”?
That some kind of cutesy play on words?
Exactly.
Wow, how brilliant!! I never would have thought of that.
Hey, why don’t we stop herion use by banning all hyperdermic needles. Yeah, some diabetics with certain insulin may suffer, but it’s for the greater good!
No, silly. If you slip on a plastic baggie, you call me, and we both call Sam Bernstien, and I get a referal fee and when you settle drinks are on me!
No. It would take too long to explain it is not a WRITTEN test of their personal drug knowledge...
Well it's obvious that only a drug dealer would have that kind of quantity. Expect a SWAT team to break down your door in 3, 2, 1........
Just kidding by the way.
protect the environment
sell your illegal drugs in recyclable containers!
Well isn’t this brilliant,,,great minds at work here people, all of these idiots should be fired. Do these people actually LISTEN to what they propose? Man oh man, talk about the dumbing down of America. While we’re at it let’s ban pooperscoopers that way doggies won’t poop anymore, and let’s ban cigarette packages that way people won’t smoke anymore, let’s ban hot dog rolls so people won’t eat hotdogs anymore,,,,,,oh my,,,,,,,the list is endless!
They’re also useful for jumpers and screws if you work on computers. Most anyone who’s built a machine or two has some extras laying around “just in case” and small baggies are one of the best ways to store them.
I’ve always sad that the little baggies with the twisters are much more environmentally sound.....
Yep. My wife is a seed beader, and she uses the same tiny Ziploc bags to store seed beads and small finished pieces like earrings.
She swears she nearly got arrested in South Carolina once when she was at lunch talking with a fellow beader about their craft, and a cop at a nearby table gave them the hairy eyeball when he heard them talking about “baggies” and “grams”...of seed beads.

Time to buy stock in Saran Wrap.
I’d laugh if it weren’t for the fact that it can be so serious. I am a beader, too.
I have heard of more than one person being questioned when they were in possession of these little baggies.
Oh, I never thought of using them for that.
Thanks for the tip!
I hope I’m not busted the next time I go to the craft store :)
Buncha goobers!
OK you bunch of liberal elite Democrats in Chicago, what are folks going to pick up the dog crap in?
The whole idea is to reduce global warming and decrease the amount of plastics that go into landfills. If they outlaw the little baggies, then drug dealers will have to resort to using recyclable bottles and cans and this will save the environment and prevent the polar ice caps from melting and increase the ozone layer and bring about world peace and save the whales.
It's all about the children.
Sniffing seed beads sound extremely painful. :)
