Sad to see Melanie go but she was definately the weak link on the KSFO morning show. Hopefully her former co-host Lee Rogers can stay on. He carries the show. Talk about running a company into the ground as what happened with Citadel. It appears all local hosts are getting the axe, Gambling on ABC was given the slip, and we will be left with just syndicated shows.
Of course, we all know the left's talk show commentators are the ones that never get a lasting audience. No one wants to hear them, fewer support them. They they cry and complain that talk radio is one-sided. Duh!
Which means no local conservative watch dogs trying to call out local liberal corruption. I've been saying this for years. The destruction of local conservative talk radio is no good for grassroots conservatives trying to make a change in their districts. Instead, Big companies like Disney and Citadel come in and strong arming station owners into broadcasting ONLY conservative syndicated talk radio.
THis is a crying shame.
Best wishes to Melanie that she’ll find another station to have her show.
If they couldn't shut down the influence of talk radio, then the only thing left to do was to dismantle conservative talk radio.
I was laughed at then, but it's happening now.

Agree with your first statement. She always had trouble expressing herself and could not keep up with Lee. He was grouchy and I always noticed that she was much more “up” on the days he wasn’t there. He intimidated her I think. Her heart is in the right place, but she stumbled over her words. The one time it was clear to me was when she ad libbed a mortgage commercial and changed 5 point 5 percent to “five and five percent.” Sheesh. And the kept running it.
I really hate to see Mel go.
Hers is a rapport with the working person, with the everyday listener who might not read the WSJ op eds.
Those of us who have "kids" in Iraq have a special bond with Mel, and her wonderful military family support efforts.
KSFO is actually a lower power station, and it's hit-and-miss to get it here in Sacto.
So, Mel, please ignore the few complaints here, and take the compliments to heart.
Hopefully, you will be back on the air at a more powerful station.
Capitalists optimize; corporatists maximize for the short run.
Yo, Mels! What's up there, you smooth talker?
No, the company is in financial trouble.
And sometimes the people with the biggest salaries get cut first. Too bad.
The problem is advertising revenue, why not cut the salaried ‘jocks and go with the bartered talent?
Let them sell their own spots.
Very concise and succinct distinction. Thank you.
Suleman wasted most of 2007 courting crusty has- been Don Imus with a huge pay package rather than saving his company from ruin.
Another sacrifice to the alter of Imus.
You are looking at the opening phase of the Left's takedown of conservative talk radio.
There will be more to follow.
That was a good overview to what appears to be a major meltdown in Citadel. Thanks.
Not a conservative/liberal thing. She will inevitably wind up elsewhere - possibly KFI.
Isn’t Hannity tape delayed on WTIC? (If so he’d get pre-empted a lot by Red Sox in coming months) and I thought WDRC 1360
carried Laura...
Yup was aware of Morgan’s firing, via the radio boards..
btw, from Tom Taylor’s radio-info.com column (free via
email):
“Curtis Sliwa to go national, via Citadel/ABC Radio Networks? The Guardian Angel co-founder and longtime WABC personality is taking over the late morning post-Imus slot from John Gambling and the Staten Island SILive.com blog site reports that Sliwa wont continue WABCs customary Friday hour-long chats with the mayor. Thats because Citadels poised to syndicate him, perhaps around April 1. Hizzoner Mayor Mike Bloomberg is considering his options (he was friendly with Gambling), and his people will be talking with other New York stations perhaps even one that speaks Espanol.”
