UTICA, New York – The political tidal wave that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has built with a long string of victories since February 5’s Super Tuesday elections is washing over Texas, but he still trails rival Hillary Clinton in Ohio, a new Reuters/C-SPAN/Houston Chronicle poll shows.

Obama has built a six-point lead over Clinton in Texas, largely on the strength of support from what has come to be his base – younger voters and men. Evidence of his persuasive powers comes from the fact that most of those who have most recently decided for whom to support, while Clinton won more support from early deciders

Texas - Democrats

Clinton 42%

Obama 48%

Gravel <1%

Someone else 3%

Not sure 7%

In Ohio, Clinton holds a slim lead that has diminished steadily in past weeks. Her strength stems from the same demographic groups that carried her to victories earlier in the campaign, but the trend appears to favor Obama, as late deciders are more likely to support him over her, the survey shows, and 9% of Ohio Democrats say they have yet to make up their minds. Another five percent voiced favor for another candidate not now in the race. Some of those may have already voted, but some may have yet to do so.

Ohio - Democrats

Clinton 44%

Obama 42%

Gravel 1%

Someone else 5%

Not sure 9%

The Democratic Party surveys in Ohio included 708 likely voters, while the Texas survey of Democrats included 704 likely voters. Both surveys were conducted Feb. 26-28, 2008, and carry margins of error of +/- 3.8 percentage points.

Apparently the love New Yorkers have for the carpetbagger is not shared by the rest of the country.

Hillary Clinton is finished. It’s when she makes her defeat “official” that everybody is really still waiting for.

Don’t worry, not only Zog is saying it. It looks like Obama is in the lead in Ohio now as well.

Most of us want to be rid of the Clintons for good. Obama is a wimp.

Someone needs to create a cartoon of Obama in a diaper with the banner “It’s time for a change”.

Hillary Clinton campaign sent an e-mail today basically saying that Obama must wins all 4 states on March 4th or she is staying in.

Even if she loses both TX & OH, I can’t envision her making her defeat “official.” As long as there’s even the slightest mathematical possibility that she can steal the nomination with the superdelegates at the convention, she’ll stay in.

Early voting in Texas is 7 times normal. Do you think Republicans are crossing over and voting for Hillary?

The witch can not afford a split. That is why she is going for the jugular against Barrack (redacted) Obama.

The Clintons will try to circumvent the election, but the public just will not let her. There will be a stir all through the DNC and the Super Delegates would have real problems not mandating Obama the true winner. It would only make the Clintons appear as corrupt cheating jerks. The Democrats would not risk building their bid for the Presidency around such a thing.

I had thought about skipping the Republican primary here in Texas and voting in the democratic primary for Obama but I am beginning to get worried about Obama momentum, now I may hold my nose and vote for Hillary to keep both of them spending money and to continue them to raking each other over the coals.

RCP has one feature that shows what the last RCP-POLL average was and what the actual numbers were after polling.

Obama has crushed the Polling numbers at the ballot by 10% or so.

So if he is ahead or close, it is bad news for Hildabeast. Because his actual returns have been way higher than any of the polls.

We shall see.

I remember after the last round of primaries the word was that Hillary needed to win by 55%/45% or 60%/40% in order to just catch up to Obama’s lead in pledged delegates.

The assumption being that Bill and Hillary will not attempt to swing the election using “super delegates.”

My guess is if they were to get the nomination by swaying super delegates her negatives would surge even higher.

I surely hope not because they are making a fatal mistake if they do this. If they do so they can give her a huge win in Texas and she can be the nominee without any fight at the convention.
