That is so true, it is just so maddening and unbelievable that in this day and age that this has happened.
I went to that clinic for a colonoscopy in 2002. They should state why it is that the dates are March 2004 until Jan of this year.
Is that when someone they suspect was hired who did this.
They should be in prison.
The DA should prosecute them and I think he will.
They just have to, how can this happen?

They are believed to have been exposed to the disease when anesthesiologists reused syringes to administer medications.

Somebody has GOT to be kidding me. I give my diabetic dog two insulin shots a day and would NEVER reuse the same needle. They go right into the old coffee can, and when the coffee can is full of used needles it goes back to the vet for disposal.

Your question about the dates is most valid, and it would certainly help to alleviate anxiety for many by knowing those details. Health officials are doing no favors by omitting information related to suspected start date. For example, was there a memo or staff meeting directing employees to re-use syringes on or about March 2004, or a new hire?

Was the anesthetic injected via a heparin lock or a longer length of IV tubing? The former would explain syringe contamination more readily than the latter.

Furthermore, improper cleaning of the endoscopic equipment is receiving only cursory mention to date. This practice has been cited in at least two articles, but omitted in the SNHD press release. btw-the SNHD is doing the public a disservice by providing incomplete information. Their lack of detail portends CYA mode for their government agency and for the endoscopy center. SNHD has been investigating this situation for six weeks. Surely, they know more than they are sharing with the public.

Undoubtedly, the phone lines to the local health department are jammed at this point with the staggering number of people affected. Local news stations may be helpful in digging for these important details and disseminating information in the short term. This is a public health crisis of stunning proportions, and everyone deserves to know details.

If this helps, I had Hep A and B vaccinations (Twinrix I think), there were no side effects that I could remember. There is no vaccination against Hep C, I believe.

Here’s what will happen, it’s so predictable. The national TV boys will get hold of this and next week it will be a giant story. The spin will be that this shows we need MORE regulation of the health care industry, and it will be used as an argument FOR national health care by the democrats. Thank you for the article. It did fail to mention his wife is a pulmonary doctor her, has been for years.
Oh, the American dream. Looks like to achieve it, you have to pay off top officials and then screw the little guy.

I had a run in with this doctor years ago.
My son had gone to New Orleans for Mardi Gra and came home deathly ill. He had diarrhea so bad, was sent to this doctor for a colonoscopy. Before the doctor even gave him the test, he diagnosed him with a terrible disease, I could not believe it. Well, he did not have what the doctor told him he had, he had Cryptosporidium, from the water or ice cubes in New Orleans.
The doctor had no beside manner and I thought very haughty.

I remember the discussion on a forum here where a Arab doctor in Chicago was accused of failing to treat a patient in a timely manner in an emergency room in Chicago and the patient died. The patient was Jewish.
Big discussion followed about foreign doctors and their treatment of patients. This is the article.
