CANTON -- The jurors deciding the fate of Bobby Cutts Jr. have spared the former Canton police officer's life. The jury instead recommended he receive life in prison without parole rather than the death penalty for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Jessie Davis, last summer.
Breakdown of sentencing for Bobby Cutts Jr.
Cutts was found guilty on a total of seven charges. Below are the charges with the sentence received on each count in ():
Murder--for the death of Jessie Davis (15 years)
Aggravated murder--for the unlawful termination of Jessie Davis' pregnancy. (Life in prison without parole for 30 years)
Aggravated murder--for the death of baby Chloe. Ohio law provides for such charges involving a viable unborn child or a victim involving a child younger than 13. (Life in prison without parole for 30 years)
Aggravated burglary--for trespassing into Jessie Davis' home in order to commit the attack.(10 years)
Gross abuse of a corpse--(2 counts) for the treatment of Jessie Davis' body and her unborn daughter's following their deaths (2 years, 1 year on each count)
Child endangering--for leaving the couple's young son, Blake, home alone in his mother's home after the murder. (6 months)
The sentence collectively works out to a total of 57 years behind bars without parole. Cutts is currently 30 years old.
Cutts only faced the possibility of the death penalty in connection with the convictions on the two aggravated murder charges, involving the death of his unborn daughter, Chloe. In the end the jurors chose to recommend life in prison without the possibility of parole for 30 years rather than the death penalty.
The judge sentenced Cutts immediately following the jury's recommendation.
But before imposing the sentence, the court heard from members of Cutts' defense team, the prosecutor and members of Davis' family.

Well, as long as you brought it up, I was thinking the same thing. Dead white girlfriend and baby might not sit real well with the “Aryan Brotherhood” types in Ohio’s state prison system - AND an ex-cop. Not much chance for this schlub.
Not necessarily. Ex-cops who murder pregnant women aren’t known for longevity in prison.
Perhaps he did.
The Aryan Brotherhood wouldn't need much of a recruiting drive...
Well, if he cries when the boys in prison get ready to kill him that’ll just make it more fun for them.
I believe that, in this type of case, there is no such thing as “justice.” To begin with, no matter what you do, you can’t “match” the execution of a guilty murderer to the murder of his innocent victim.
THIS CASE, however, may come as close as is possible...
He’ll be out in less than 20 years, and will do it again.
Avenge the death of a so-called "race traitor" and her half-black child? I don't see it happening.
You may be right. Then again, they may overlook that to inflict suffering on an ex-cop. I have no idea how their thinking runs - gratefully.
I agree. Texas has the right idea, no question about it.
I cannot imagine who these people are on the jury -— who could see and hear the evidence of the brutal crime committed on a young woman and her (and also his) about-to-be-born baby, as well as the abandonment of his 2-1/2 year old child -— and still hand down the most lenient sentence, they must be criminals themselves.
Bobby Cutts Jr. is a cold-blooded killer, a user and abuser of women and children, who is NOT FIT TO LIVE.
FR should start a dead pool on this guy...I am betting less than six months in the general prison population until someone does him in to get their mark .
No doubt he'll sign with OJ's agent.
Oh, Lord, I didn’t know that. I hadn’t followed the case these past months. No wonder it turned out this way - I couldn’t imagine anything mitigating, but I suppose that would be it.
I’ll never forget little Blake saying “mommy broke the table” and “mommy was in the rug” while he walked around so distraught ... that poor child.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Cutts will have the hard time in prison that most here think he will - he seems like the kind of con artist that will fit right in. Hope I’m wrong.
That’s what I think. Barring any other intervention, President Obama will pardon him.
Assuming he lives that long.
You just know how other cons love a cop in the slam with ‘em......
Lucky for him he’s not ugly. (I know he’s an ugly human) If he was fat and homely they would have given him the death penalty.
I do not get Patty Porter. I noticed something “off” about that woman while Jessie was still missing. But to talk about Blake getting to know his “daddy” is just idiotic. Blake saw Cutts killing his Mommy; why would he want anything to do with him?
Some people do not understand the difference between being a Christian and “playing God.” She, imho, is doing the latter... it is not her place to pardon a double murderer. Something is missing in that gal.
Unbelievable. Just the sickest.
I agree. And I hope we're both wrong too.
Had he done this to one of my family, I'd have been very prepared for the possibility of a jury giving him a life sentence instead of what he deserved.
