Florida Power & Light is reporting massive power outages throughout South Florida, including Miami, Doral, Westchester, and Pembroke Pines. Reports of outages extended into Palm Beach, an FPL spokeswoman said.
The company said it was investigating the problem.
A couple of days after Charley, when we were still in camping mode with no power or water, I walked down towards my boat and noticed out of the corner of my eye this enormous object on my dock. It was kind of green and white with some black stripes. It was curled up a bit with its tail over the edge of the dock and its head up on my sea wall. My dock is eight feet wide. My brain refused to register it...

... scared the crapola out of me. Somebody must have had a huge cage or entire room or lanai dedicated to it. We have tons of one foot/greyish ones on Gasparila Island. But this was a real specimen.
Yes you can always rely on SeeBS Smooze....I see it was not caused by Natalie Holloway.
“Scram” is the term used to describe the ‘safe’ shutdown of the Reactor as the control rods are plunged into the reactor core....the rest of the plant then must shut down on its own good time...the turbine generator will spin ‘til the steam generators no longer produce steam....etc, etc. It’s not instantaneous, tho’ it can be if the relief valves are used instead, which will wake up anyone within 5-10 miles of the plant.
that explains it....they’re celebrating black history month...FPL has a long history of long blackouts.
Crist is a pragmatist....he understands that since you can’t hear him on the radio or see him on TV, he doesn’t need to say anything....He plans to investigate this internet thingy real soon.
Too bad there isn't a leak, I could get FPL to take it off my hands.
Yep
LOL .. yeah, but would you
want to go near ever again?
Are you at Bayfront?
Dim bulbs.
Yep.
CNN is now reporting that eight power plants were shut down.
It’s not just the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, the most populous part of the state, that was affected.
The power also went out in Volusia County, around Daytona Beach, site of the famous racetrack, and in Brevard county, where NASA launches space shuttles from its Kennedy Space Center.
Haven’t seen it since before
Andrew and then left the
area. Have they made it
really nice? It’s a lovely
spot.
I quit reading right there....recommend your Freep source is much more intelligent than Wikiville. As far as I know, no crocodiles have either become un endangered OR endangered by cohabitating with a Nuclear power plant....just say'n. Remember, Ralph Nader can write Wiki.
or car engine?
you’re 2 for 2.....McCain better hope he doesn’t have to take Crist on as VP!!!!!!!!!
The beach is nice, the guy that sell gas at the marina shot himself in the parking lot a year ago.
Other than that its pretty much the same, really pretty, lots and lots of mangroves and raccoons and of course, mosquitoes are already starting up again.
I can see now
Where at’s Rome? Ky here. Timing is eerily similar.
