Florida Power & Light is reporting massive power outages throughout South Florida, including Miami, Doral, Westchester, and Pembroke Pines. Reports of outages extended into Palm Beach, an FPL spokeswoman said.
The company said it was investigating the problem.

A scram is an emergency shut-down, isn’t it? They don’t schedule those....I don’t think, anyway.

It has spread to Tampa, as I found out when I got back from my lunch hour. In some places it’s not back yet.

Yes a SCRAM is an emergency shutdown, either automatic or man made. From what I just heard both reactors scrammed, and are not in power supplying mode. They are in a holding mode, but it will take a few hours to bring them back up to power.

Many reactors take days to bring up, not hours.
Getting something on the local news now about a transformer having “problems”...which in turn made the nuke plants shut down, which brought about the domino effect.

Awww crap, I take Metro-Rail and Tri-rail home. Even though the Tri-rail trains are self powered, the crossing signals are not. 10 hours? I gotta find a way home..
