Barack Obamas campaign is expressing outrage at a new photo attributed to Clinton campaign sources that depicts the Democratic presidential candidate dressed in Somali garb.
The picture, which appeared at the top of Mondays Drudge Report, says Clinton staffers circulated the 2006 photo over the weekend. It shows the Illinois senator fitted as a Somali elder, during his visit to northeastern Kenya that was part of a five-country tour of Africa.
On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering weve seen from either party in this election, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said.
This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and its exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world, Plouffe continued.
According to Drudge, the unnamed Clinton campaign staffer said: Wouldnt we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC, short-hand for the candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Shown the photo by reporters, Bill Clintons press secretary said the candidates spouse will not have any reaction.

How many morons in America are still not clear on what sewage the Clinton’s are. Okay maybe some of the kool-aid drinkers believed all the corruption and scandals in the Clinton past were part of a VRW conspiracy.
But what’s your excuse now, now that you have seen how vile and odious they are - playing the race card, talking about past cocaine use, finding some turd to talk about a homosexual & drug encounter in a limo, this picture, the stupid plagiarism story...
How could anyone with a brain and a sense of decency still vote for this “C”...
Hmmmmmm, I wonder how he reacted when the Texas Air National Guard story first came out.
I am not concerned with a senator dressing in local attire on a foreign trip. I oppose Obama because he is linked to extremist muslims, black supremacists, and comitted communists, not to mention his refusal to wear an American flag pin and his wife’s comments that implied that America is nothing to be proud of unless it supports him for president. Obama is starting to sound like a real whiner also. I would like to see how he reacted if he had to deal with 1% of the slanderous allegations made against Bush.
It was photo shopped from a “Lucy” episode. Please move on.
Everybody is acting like this is some long-lost photo or something. It was in major US magazines.
Different time, different circumstances.
becareful the Liberals will accuse you of hate and trying to use fear to manipulate the CONTEXT of that photo...
I think it speaks for itself... Why would any American Proudly wear Somali Tribal gear especially in view of the incident with the Black Hawk in Oct 93.
So won’t respect Our National Anthem, Won’t respect the stars and stripes but has no problem respecting the tribal gear of the Killers of American Soldiers... hmmm
Osama, Obama got some splainin to do..
It’s not her. It’s all part of a Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.
Actually, there was nothing wrong with the Willie Horton ad.
Are you crying? Are you crying? ARE YOU CRYING? There’s no crying! THERE’S NO CRYING IN POLITICS!
It was excellent strategy to release that picture. Hopefully, they have more similar to that one.
Right it has been out there for a while. It isn't the first time I have seen it.
I don’t disagree with you, but I think all of this will come back to bite him prior to November, so I’m not too worried. All of things you mention are of concern ... but getting his picture taken in African garb is a non-event, IMO.
The big question that needs to be asked of Obama is “why wasn’t this photo released by your campaign along with the other photos from the 2006 trip. Are you embarrassed by it? Are you trying to hide it?”
He is a member of the UnAmerican Democrat Party after all.
