"Russia could use force in Kosovo"

I can't see it happening.

Can’t blame Russia all that much. They don’t want a muslim state set up in their backyard. Nobody is talking about it but that’s where it stands.

WWWI started there. It is not worth one American live to defend the “independent” Kosovo.

Why do we want another muslim country? Is this more of Bush-the-wuss’ compassionate conservastism?

Russia knows if they mess with with the US they risk total annihilation.

If anything, they’re rational gamblers. They’re not about to throw it all away over some lousy Balkan family feud.

The EU will soon deploy 2,000 officials to strengthen law and order in Kosovo, which has a population of about two million. Russia argues that the mission has no legal basis.

How do these Euronuts recognize the State of Kosovo as a lawful sovereign entity and then deploy 2000 officials along with 15,000 troops within that nation's sovereign territory???

Russia is too weak to take on NATO in a full-scale war.

They are bluffing and saber-rattling.

The Serbs have placed their hopes in a megaphone, not an ally.

The Russians lost 8,000 soldiers in 20 months in Chechnya fighting a population half the size and far less than half as well-equipped as Kosovo, with no support from NATO.

I'd like to know how their logistics would work. It's a "can't get there from here" place, now that the USSR no longer exists. They'd need the permission of more than a couple of nations to move the proper men and materials there.

How does our involvement fit into our national interest. Does Kosovo have any natural resources, industry or strategic value. My understanding is that they are a mooselimb country with little education and 60% unemployment. Are we that desperate to have another country/dependent to send billions of aid $'s to?

Can I declare myself a country and receive foreign aid from uncle sugar the Great Satan?

For this mess we can thank Bill Clinton and George Bush, who had and have identical policies that encouraged and encourage establishment of the Islamofascist terrorist statelet known as “Kosovo.” Creating that monstrosity is and was bad enough, but bad goes to frightful when the Russian part of the equation is brought in. Russia went to war in 1914 against Austria-Hungary to protect the sovereignty of Serbia, plunging the west into WWI. In the Kosovo situation Russia had an entirely legitimate interest in protecting Serbia from being torn asunder by Islamofascist sympathizing do gooders. Indeed, that gratuitous insult to Russia is possibly a significant reason for out present bad relationship with Russia. The only “benefit” we’ve received is a virulent pustule, Kosovo, in the middle of Europe.
