Top Anglican warns B.C. dissenters about church property

Anglicans may be heading for a court fight with a Vancouver church after the congregation voted to leave the liberal Canadian church and affiliate with a more conservative South American group.

On Feb. 13, the congregation of St. John's Shaughnessy in Vancouver voted more than 90 per cent in favour of leaving the church over doctrinal issues, including the blessing of same-sex marriages.

The same day, the head of the church in Canada, Archbishop Fred Hiltz, warned in a letter that Anglicans who leave the church must give up any claim to church property or assets.

However, a spokeswoman for St. John's told the Anglican Journal that their legal advisers said the church building belongs to the parish, not to the Vancouver-based diocese of New Westminster.

St. John's is the first Canadian Anglican church to leave, although Hiltz's letter said that there are "a few parishes" considering the idea.

Differences over same-sex blessings have split the church all over the world.

The thing is, most of the churches that allow all this stuff are slowly dying. The young, vibrant congregations are the ones that don’t water their faith down.

It always sort of strikes me as sour grapes. `

The Episcopal church shot itself in the head. Those who remained can continue stuffing a cork in the wound all they want but they’re only delaying the inevitable.

The Anglicans who support the historic church creeds should take a lesson from D. James Kennedy. As I understand it, when the PCA denomination split off from the PCUSA, Dr. Kennedy's church took out a mortgage on the church property and secured pledges from the congregation to repay the mortgage. When the mainline denomination threatened to take his facility, Dr. Kennedy said "Go right ahead, I'm sure you have the $10 million to pay off the mortgage, because all the folks who made pledges are coming with me."

The denomination allowed his church to keep its property.

What's he gonna do, compare them to child abusers like Jefferts Schori did here in the States?

You know, I've often wondered what Jesus thinks about churches owning property and assets?

The Gospel of Luke, Chapter 18, Verses 22-25

18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

18:23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

18:24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

For the insane on our side who prefer Obama or the Hilldebeast as president need to look at Canada to see what decades of liberalism can do to a country.
