Romney endorses McCain - Taking away 1st Amendment Free Speech is O.K. now?
American Conservative Union Polital Action Conference ^

Posted on 02/15/2008 8:13:24 PM PST by 2findtheway

I have read alot at various sites over the past few days. I cannot believe those who still are on their "Romney honeymoon"??? Endorsing McCain to them means that he is really a great guy with character, a real team player, a real conservative who is taking one for the team. Isn't it obvious that the man has his own interest at heart and not yours? Romney and McCain fought bitterly during the primaries, Romney accuses McCain of taking away freedom of speech (does it get worse than that!), and promises to repeal McCain-Feingold when elected. See video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAbi4l_OaZo

Wow! Can you Romney supporters please see the endorsement for what it really is - Romney getting in on the action for himself. If you want real change, please consider another candidate instead of the same old establishment hacks manipulating your vote.

Thank you for reading.

Since a vast majority of people here at FR were endorsing the guy who did more than anybody in the Senate to pass McCain/Feingold (Fred Thompson), it’s hardly a big deal that a person who ran on the platform to repeal McCain/Feingold still thinks we should all back McCain now that he is our nominee.

We lost the McCain/Feingold argument when we conservatives decided to put it aside just because “our man” was for it.

If you look at the attacks on McCain from after we started supporting Thompson, you’ll see a decided shift away from attacking McCain/Feingold, and onto other issues we disagreed with.

“If we want conservatism to win we must have a leader out there selling it.”

I’ll be the first to say it:

“Just as I figured. A two-day-old newbie posts an inane vanity and then gives no response to comments. That is the classic behavior of a TROLL!”

It sure isn’t a good sign, you might be right.

JINDAL 2012

Cool! Hopefully we do not have to wait until 2012 for a conservative leader though. If so, conservatism will have been redefined to the point where a Rudy Giuliani will be looked at as we look at Barry Goldwater today and probably almost "too far right" to get elected. We do NOT want that to happen.

Hillary has a lifetime ACU rating of 9%. Obama has a lifetime ACU rating of 8%.

When will you be building a monument to her?

It’s going to be McCain vs. Obama.

It's going to be McCain and Obama versus conservatism.

Wow. Attacking a guy while running against him, then making nice when he wins the nomination??? Who ever heard of such a thing!

Wow. Attacking a guy while running against him, then making nice before anyone has sewn up the nomination??? Who ever heard of such a thing!

Your response is misleading. You were the one who was praising Hillary. I was making fun of your praise of her. You misleadingly, switch it around.

How pathetic.

And by a newbie no less.

If Hillary was the Republican nominee, Mitt would be kissing her butt just as eagerly.

And no doubt some FReepers would be as well...

Taking away 1st Amendment Free Speech is O.K. now?

In the new improved Kennedy wing of the Republican Party all kinds of formerly despicable liberal things are OK.

McCain’s “conservative” record. My collection.

FR links on McCain's record from Feb. 2000. MrChips collection.

Romney doing a politically motivated 180. Gee what a shock.

Romney supporters recognize the class in the guy. No amount of spindoctoring can change the fact that Mitt is a man of moral character, business savvy and who puts his loyalty to his country and party ahead of his own personal desire.

I don’t know or care what Romney’s persona ambitions are, but I’m shocked that there is anyone who thinks the reason for this endorsement results from anything but trying to shove Huckabee towards the door.

I do wish all these endorsers could get McCain’s ear long enough to convince him to renounce M/F and promise to work for it’s repeal, though....he can finesse it and claim it did not work as he had anticipated or whatever, but if he could sincerly change his mind on that it would do a lot to mend the fences he claims he wants to mend.

You were the one who was praising Hillary.

Nope, you were. Anything to the right of Obama was your standard for support.
