The McCain Conundrum
12/14/2008 | KMAJ2

Posted on 02/15/2008 12:18:31 AM PST by KMAJ2

Other than the socialist Mike Huckabee and isolationist Ron Paul, John McCain was at the bottom of my list for a preferred candidate. On the other side of the equation, it is looking like Barack Hussein Obama may overrun the ice queen Hitlery Clinton. What makes that scary is Obama is to the left of the ice queen.

I have read posts from both sides of the McCain debate, the 'if you don't vote for McCain it is a vote for the democrat' gang and the 'I will not subjugate my conservative principles and vote for McCain' crowd. Personally, I support the rights (read freedom) of everyone to make such choices.

For me, my vote will be guided by my own priorities. What do I value most ? What is most important ? The scale weighed on one side love of country and on the other love of ideology. My country always comes first. So as distasteful as it will be to vote for McCain, to allow either Marxist, Hitlery or Obama, to win is to sell out my country.

Is your ideology more important then your country ? Do you only love your country if the elected leaders are those who mirror your ideological beliefs ? If one is willing to hand your country over to leaders who are clearly worse than the alternative, then one clearly loves their country, but they love their ideology more. But that is the unique trait of a free people, they have the freedom to place that order on their priorities.

Kudos with this thread!!!

It's amazing how so many moan and whine about those they claim put "party" over "principle", but then will put "pet ideology" over country.

Personally I have a problem with the possibility of a President with the Name that sounds like O BOMB A .
I dont like McCains positions on a lot of things but with one son about to graduate from the Naval academy and another one a combat Marine veteran in Iraq there has to be some redeeming qualities there

I have to respectfully disagree with Rush in that the medicine may be far worse than the disease. We have to put our differences aside and realize that even two years of a Rat Congress with either of these two closet marxists at the helm could do permanent damage to the country, i.e. capitulation to jihad, crippling socialist tax programs, and more libs on the Supreme Court.

I will NOT vote for a SOROS bought and paid for candidate, NO matter what political mantle they seek shelter. Educate yourself to what SOROS policies are and that is what is on the ballot this year.

Actually, McCain may be worse than Clinton or Obama.

In McCain you have both elements of Marxism and a willingness to sell his soul to big business. That's a double-barrel whammy.

At least McCain understands the war on terror and wants to win unlike the Dems.

How can McCain have a clue about who the enemy is? He wants GITMO closed and those terrorists brought to Leavenworth, KS. Google Leavenworth, KS and take note of the major interstate highways near that facility. McCain's open borders agenda is not based upon national security, anybody could come in from either border and nobody would be the wiser. McCain's agenda is the SOROS agenda and McCain owes SOROS.

But the old and cranky bought and paid for whore (R) is so much better than the other two bought and paid for whores (D)! Two parties, but one global goal... apparently a lot of people on FR think McCain will be slower to send them to the gulags. Talk about the REAL "audacity of hope!" That's almost as amazing as anyone thinking he'll do better than Dukakis or Mondale in November.

The most bizarre thing about McCain getting the nomination is that it has been the liberal/independent voters that have given him his victories. And now the people swoooon over their so much better candidate in total disregard of the facts.

“And I’m voting R, for anyone who has that beside their name, and I don’t give a damn what their name is.

What cult-like devotion.”

Adults make choices, and recognize those choices will affect the country one way or the other. If this guy is in a cult, I’m joining.

GREAT comment. I do happen to think their criticism is somewhat fair; I just don’t believe that will allow me to stay home. I have never seen a leader do it all perfectly. I’ll take faulted, compromising, and not-socialist at heart.

Dispute my actual point instead coming up with a weak comment that I am on drugs. That is real original and hilarious. Like I stated previously, how can people who supported Bush oppose McCain because of his views on immigration and campaign finace reform? It is a rhetorical question because there is no legitimate answer.

To vote for the socialist McCain is worse than Obama as it is a surrender to the marxist liberals rinos.

“Let me clear this up for you, I would vote for you if you had an R behind your name.”

“Is that a “yes”? Would you vote for Charles Manson if he had an R by his name? How about Kim Jong-il? Fidel Castro? Osama Bin-Laden with an R by his name?

Seriously, I’m curious about where your line is drawn, if ever. (please answer the question, no dodging.)”

Oh, please. I think he meant out of the ones running for election.

That was like a fifth grade argument.

Yes I have my own disagreements with McCain also, but the people pretending that McCain is not far more conservative and far more qualified than the democrats are beyond irrational.

A vote for a leftist rino is no different that voting for Obama, by voting for a third party or write in, I will not violate my conscience and not be ashamed of just being another rino.

Sure there’s a legit answer. We didn’t know about Bush’s positions in 2000, and in 2004, we swallowed and voted for him, taking the same advice people like you are giving now.

No more. I don’t vote for liberals. We continue to reestablish the line of scrimmage farther to the left, thinking we’re advancing conservatism.

I refuse to reward these GOP jagoffs for their leftward movement. They care nothing for the Constitution, only for their own election. NO.
