THIS IS GREAT - We Didn't Start the Fire

I saw Billy Joel in concert shortly after he did the song. It is a great history lesson covering half a century.

First concert I ever went to was Billy Joel when I was 9. I begged my mom to go for weeks. Puts on a great show. I believe it was his ‘An Inncoent Man’ tour. Mom had a good time too :)

That song has been called “Al Bundy on ‘Face the Nation’”

AWESOME!!!

Now I know what the heck he was saying for half the song.

And yes, I sang along with the chorus, hehe.

I’ve heard the song, but never knew who sang it and certainly didn’t have a clue as to the lyrics. Thanks for posting.

And this whole time, I thought it was Great White who sang, “We didn’t start the fire.”

Yuck. I gave up on Billy Joel when he came out with ‘Only the Good Die Young’. It was an anti-Catholic piece of garbage.

Back when I used to watch the Grammys, before they turned to utter *crap*, I remember Joel performing this song at one awards ceremony. The video that accompanied it was awesome: they had two monitors on each side of him, if I remember correctly.

And as he sang each image, they kind of dissolved/shape shifted or somehow wiped to the next image.

I always hoped Joel would release that version with a video, but he didn’t.

The video he DID was release was interesting, though.

So was this one.

Not me. “Only the Good Die Young” was just about fact, when I was a Catholic girl of that age. And most girls I knew were pretty wild at that time.

Billy’s music has basically been the soundtrack of my life. From “This Night” and “All for Leyna” to “I Go to Extremes” they always seemed to fit.

I actually am planning to use “We didn’t Start the Fire” in homeschooling. My girls know it and I planned to have them research phrase and do repoets on each.
