I Fully Support Amnesty for Illegals!

Amnesty…a defining issue for Conservatism. You cannot be on the wrong side of this issue and escape the wrath of the Right-Media. (Unless you are a nobody, like me. Then, it is very easy to fly under their collective radar.) Support for any form of Amnesty makes one a RINO, turncoat, panderer, and/or traitor.

I am as Conservative as you can get. Way to the right of Genghis Khan. Approaching the territory of Jeff Flake or Tom Coburn. Seriously. I’m there! Lower taxes – check. Department of Education – gone! Department of almost everything else – gone! Department of Defense – double or more. One of the few Constitutional roles of the Federal Government – Defending innocent life. This is to be done via war and/or Right-to-Life statutes, as needed.

How can a good Conservative support Amnesty for illegal aliens? It is our trump card. There is much we need to get done to save our nation. Stopping the flow of illegal immigrants is paramount among them. Leftists and big-business (and small business and moms needing nannies) are keeping the spigot of illegal immigration cranked fully on. How is it possible to put an end to the insanity that is our border security? By holding and playing our trump card – Amnesty.

Would I prefer that we close the border now and make illegal life so miserable and uncertain that people self-deport? Yes. Is there any chance in this political environment we can make those things happen? No. Would it be responsible of patriotic Americans to allow the current system to fester for another two or three decades? No. We must act. Amnesty would be held to be played after the borders have been effectively sealed. Our country will easily assimilate (or outgrow) those who have come here illegally and created permanent lives for themselves with anchor babies, jobs and friends. Many who do not fit the mold of Americans will end up self-deporting as enforcement is finally allowed to kick in. Big-business will support closing the borders and enforcing immigration laws if it happens at the same time that the legal immigration process is overhauled.

To win the support of big-business (and because it makes American strong for the next century or two), I support the immediate implementation of a significant increase in numbers and a streamlining of the process for legal immigration. There is NO problem in this country absorbing millions of new immigrants who want to become Americans. This is the key to successful immigration. Immigrants MUST demonstrate that they want to become Americans. Billions of people around the globe watch American movies and American television. Business around the globe is conducted in English. Billions have access to the internet. There are few people in the world that cannot learn English, before they apply to come here, if it is important to them. We must demand that it be important to them. Learning English is one part of becoming an American. Working hard, taking care of one’s self and one’s family are others. Getting an education is another. Staying out of criminal trouble is the most important thing. This country must do a better job of screening people who wish to immigrate here. We must also stop our own paid government employees from pushing stupid programs that encourage immigrants to hang on to the cultures they left behind and avoid assimilating into the American culture. (By the way, we need to stop these same government idiots from destroying the American culture of individualism, freedom and entrepreneurship.)

I support allowing (pick a big number) 50,000 Ghanaians, 50,000 Japanese, 50,000 Thais, 50,000 South Africans, 50,000 Italians, etc per year to immigrate to the US and to jump onto the citizenship track. Our military could easily be doubled in size by allowing people to jump-start their citizenship process by serving. Few people love this country more than those who have served it in uniform.

Thus, the three-part process that is achievable and in the long-term interest of this country is to first streamline and increase legal immigration of people who want to become Americans, second, to seal the borders and tighten enforcement to prevent criminals and terrorists from slipping in, and third, to finally provide Amnesty to those who otherwise qualify and who are still here from the old, lax system.

You can hold it to folks with a Masters or Doctorate from a legitimate institution and you'd have all the immigrants you could ever want.

Letting in several tens of millions of uneducated people from a couple of countries immediately to the South of the US will destroy the public's interest in increasing legal immigration for the forseeable future.

Your third point's the poison pill. Go back home, apply, and wait at the end of the line.

Big flaw in your thinking. They DON’T want to BECOME Americans. They want to live here and bring their fetid, backwards culture WITH them and we are supposed to turn our back on our own culture and LET them!

They want our money and our freedom, but they don’t care a whit about being American. You may think that money is all there is to being an American but trust me... it isn’t.

Unless there is a reason for them to want to BE Americans and not just live here, they will not “get” it. They will simply get their amnesty, get their right to vote and then vote in all the god awful mess that Mexico has. We will be just as bad as Europe that is falling under Sharia laws right now. We will stop being the USA and become greater Mexico.

Are you ready to throw away anything that makes the USA what it is? You will by opening the borders with no controls at all.

Congratulations. You have just wished all the principles you claim to supportaway.

What a lame argument. It is simply unfair to reward a bunch of illegals who jumped ahead of the line, and all their dependents. We are a nation of laws and cease to be a nation when we cannot manage our own borders.

Pure insanity.

The fall of the Roman Empire itself is directly attributable in large part to having standing armies of foreign born fighters who had no tradition of love and respect for Rome and it’s principles and ideals.

Your statement is dangerous nonsense

I'll say this for the amnesty/guest worker/whatever you call it plan.... it's the only one that has been put forth. Upon its defeat, it meant nobody else was going to do jack diddly squat about the issue 'til 2009 at the earliest, and if it's a Dem congress, we may not like what we get.

Right or wrong, good or bad (like most bills it was a mix of those things), it's all that has been put forth. And that's the real shame of it.

When the author writes that self-deportation is a “NO” then he is not paying attention. I didn’t read any further than that. He is not informed about the issue he is writing about — if he was he would know about Arizona and Oklahoma, and to a lesser extent, Georgia. And he would know about the string of federal court rulings approving properly written state and local laws regarding employment of legal citizens/residents.

That would come to news to Arizona, Georgia and the other states that are seeing self deportation accelerate.

“How is it possible to put an end to the insanity that is our border security?”

Either regulate the border,

or allow American standards of living to equalize with American levels.

I agree. I'd limit immigration from any give language/culture for the express purpose of making it more necessary that they assimilate into American culture.

But I think skilled auto mechanics or machinists are as important as programmers or professors.

Allowing more legal immigration and streamlining the process is something to debate once the border is closed and the illegals are dealt with.
