Huh? Im sorry if you need your meds increased but thats not my problem. Dont call me names just because you cant face reality. Do I want these to be our only realistic choices in 2008? OF COURSE NOT. But you have not begun to address the point that it is completely unacceptable to contemplate a CinC in wartime who wants to surrender as fast as possible (Shrillary or Obama). Yes, I will take John McCain over either of those two surrender-weasels, gagging all the way. If you prefer a return of the Clintonistas or the arrival of the Obama crowd, you should not be casting any stones a people clear-eyed enough to still care about defending this nation.
Defend what nation? The United States of Juan, Jorge and Pedro? Cause that's what you're going to get with McCain.
And we call the democrats sheep. If you're not getting paid, I pity you.

McCain has never or will ever be LOYAL to anyone or thing other that McCain.
He has my vote because I despise the Dems more than I do him, and that is saying a lot.

Or not. I guess we can just all go along as was intended.
So much for the purple fingers.
My finger will remain white. I will not allow myself to be herded to vote for somebody picked 2 years ago.
You all do as you wish.

Thanks for your reply, but you just confirmed my point. People are obsessed. But one thing I would like to ask - can you (and this goes for everyone who is voting on one issue alone, the war) can you at least admit that it is within the realm of possibility that you have been lied to and that the real motives for the war are not what you were told? A yes or no answer will do.

You have to do what you think best, I just hope that you don’t come to regret your decision.
Lots of time left to change your mind. Keep it open.

We are an active duty military family, and the answer is NO NO NO NO NO.

NO
ok, zillions of things are within the “realm of possibility” but I am confident that I understand reasonably well the reasons for the GWOT, of which Iraq and Afghanistan are two crucial fronts.

You're actually saying that it is not within the realm of possibility that you have been lied to about the war? Because politicians never lie and always have our best interests at heart, right?

Well golly gee, is someone willing to pay me for what I said on this thread?
If the going rate for simply advocating the defense of our country is good enough, I might even be able to afford to ship you a new supply of Xanax!!

It’s not an opinion. You’re letting emotion, anger and disappointment (all of which we’ve felt) blind you to reality here. You’re not going to get much disagreement regarding McCain and his lack of fidelity to Conservatism. Fred’s endorsement was about doing what he believes is the right thing for this country, and that’s it.
And, btw, I want a Conservative candidate, too. I sure as hell have gone to the mat for it on this website.

It has nothing to do with left or right. It's a question about what is true or not true. I would hope that truth is the most important thing to you, but apparently you can't seem to wrap your mind around the idea that not all people who oppose the war are leftists. Just as not all people who voted for the war (like Hillary) are conservatives. Is that a concept too difficult to comprehend?

McCain’s next move here, as I said, is whether he has the smarts to put aside ego and put an actual Conservative on the ticket with him, and not some two-bit RINO phony. If he goes with the latter, it will prove he isn’t serious about unifying this party, and he will go down in flames.

You are operating on a false premise, that I might have needed any “politicians” to lie to me in order to be convinced that we should obliterate the former governments of Afghanistan and Iraq. In fact, I advocated that position before any national politician ever uttered it. So THEY didn’t have to lead me by the nose with “lies”..... I was out in front of them with a clear understanding (pre-9/11) of why the likes of the the Taliban, Saddam, and Al Qaeda must be obliterated from the face of the earth.... the sooner the better, let’s get on with it. The main problem I see is that we do not go far enough fast enough, despite the incredible bravery and accomplishments of our military, because they are restrained and constrained by too many weasels in the media and politics.

It has nothing to do with left or right. You're jumping to conclusions, once again -- regrettable, certainly, but in no conceivable way, shape or form my own fault.
I readily agree that "it has nothing to do with left or right." That's not why I posted the phot of Cynthia McKinney, in this particular instance.
It simply has to do with full bore, barrelhouse, industrial strength crazy, is all.
Happy, as always, to have helped set aright any fledgling misconception(s) on the part of a fellow FReeper. ;)

So, to hell with the constitution and hunting down the specific people who were behind 9/11, and just obliterate full sovereign countries? Killing thousands of people and creating even more enemies than we started with? I prefer the Just war theory. Almost none of the criteria of the just war doctrine applied in the war we're now in.
