So I find it hard to believe that Thompson was nothing but McCain’s Trojan Horse. If he had been purely working for McCain, he probably would have endorsed a little earlier, like the governors of Florida, Texas, and California. But coming out now is just accepting reality.

Also if Fred was McCain's stalking horse, Fred would have campaigned in Michigan. Instead Fred pulled out of Michigan and Mitt won by a few points.

Freepers seem to be afraid of McCain. But not because of McCain. It is our unconscious fear about how Bush slowly let us down after we staked our votes for him. Immigration, overspending, Harriet Myers, prescription drug payoffs to the elderly, the Nafta road, Laura Bush being prochoice...

McCain is catching hell for the betrayal GOPers feel over Bush but we are just too childlike to admit it.

McCain is pro-life. McCain knows US History (heck, McCain MADE history as a POW). He is a crusty soul who needs genuine Christian redemption (and forgiveness for “the gooks” so he in turn may be forgiven by God) but I think he was tortured for his patriotism and automatically gives him an authority in the spirit that no other candidate has.

Everything about McCain’s personality and politics make sense when you deconstruct the facts of his life. Spoiled playboy jet pilot, family decorated military. Hero in the USS Forrestal disaster. Hero who would not get a free ticket home for the sake of his fellow POWs; he in essence, VOLUNTEERS to be a POW for 5 and a half years. Sits in his own feces for days at a time. Broken arms and legs — gets beaten instead of treated. (That’s why his arms are so weird to this day). Finally Nixon bombs and they let the POWs out —

and McCain, who essentially had been out of civilian life since the early sixties, is dropped into the brave new Hippie world of porn shops, pot smokers and anti war protesters who detest him. He was not only a POW, he was sucked into a time warp in Hanoi Hilton.

The Kennedy friendship? I’ve thought about it. McCain goes into Nam with sad patriotism over JFK’s death. Probably hears about RFK’s murder vis-a-vis his “gook” torturers who used it to demoralize the POWs. His early sixties mindset is what kept him going as a POW, kept him in league with the prayers of fellow POW jeremiah denton, etc. He missed Chappaquidick because he was a POW. So the name Kennedy does not have the same stink on it that it does for most modern GOPers.

Mea culpa for McCain? You bet. Freepers need to unite as Fred Thompson said.

And Thompson needs to be on the ticket. GO FRED GO. Thompson has “spiritual authority” over the Hollywood Dems (like his bleeding heart but great writer — producer Dick Wolf of LAW AND ORDER) and McCain has spiritual authority as a patriot. Now they both need Jesus and they unite the Party.

Go Fred. We need you NOW as VP. This is your time.

You are failing to give God credit. It is HE who sets rulers into authority. You need to read Jeremiah Denton’s POW book WHEN HELL WAS IN SESSION. McCain is mentioned and Reagan read it. Those POWs PRAYED THEIR WAY through captivity. They prayed for our country while the “gooks” piped in Fonda’s anti US speeches. Meanwhile, the Flower Power Hippie era was taking hold while those boys were holding fast to their patriotism and faith in Hanoi Hilton. When McCain and Denton et all were finally set free in the seventies... they come home to Hippie Hell. Porn shops. Pot smoking. Anti War Vets. They were in a time tunnel in Nam. McCain’s personality makes sense when you add up his personal pain. Thompson knows him well enough to know what McCain is really made of.

They will make a great ticket.

Oh, and btw, the Word tells us “Do not call conspiracy what others call conspiracy” but rather pray for His goodness and virtue and set your mind on all that is good, noble, virtuous and true. McCain’s virtue is crusty, too politically correct and skews to early sixties Kennedy idolatry. But his virtue was tested through blood and torture for the sake of our country. God doesn’t forget, even in a new election season. Pray for Mccain's sanctification and that he forgives "the gooks" who tortured him.

“prayer and fasting”....boy, He works quickly getting his lambs together, doesn’t he! That is EXACTLY what we need right now. If not to fix the problem we’re in, then at least to bring us all back together (conservatives that is, lol).

Would you be interested in starting a thread to encourage others to do it also? I’ll do it with you. Or if you want me to start it, that works to.

The only way we can get a miracle is to ask for one, as one voice.

We can pick a day to start the fast. Prayer is private so thats up to each individual. But the fasting is a different story. I think it could have a great affect.

If others aren’t into it, maybe you and I can get a miracle for everyone else!
