If you think McCain won’t be better than either one, you’re wrong
The Collins Report ^ | Feb7, 2008 | John F. Allen

Posted on 02/08/2008 5:01:34 AM PST by jmaroneps37

…..I do not like John McCain.

I like socialist women and the most liberal senator in America less, far less. Our party’s primaries have been hijacked by casual voters, liberals, moderates and even Democrats.

Our Evangelical friends have to shoulder much of the blame for giving us McCain. They have unfairly called Mormonism a cult and now all of us will suffer the consequences …I’m damned mad about this, but I can’t do anything about it. [ McCain] will be elected. America will not select either Democrat over him. Many Hillary hating Democrats will vote for McCain.

..the conservative radio talkers did all they could. They are now the de facto leaders of the conservative movement. …accept facts. Some of them insist McCain can’t win. I very much disagree.

Each conservative has to make a personal decision. We can swing wild in blind anger or carefully think things through. If you are old enough to vote, you are old enough to have been disappointed or you really haven’t lived much of a life. We don’t always get our way. If we jump wrong now, out of anger and frustration, we will insure …putting America, no our own families in danger. The danger of picking wrong at this point is history can not be over stated. …grievances against John McCain are [not] unimportant. They are very important. [but]we seem to be losing the fact that vicious Islamist terrorists want to kill us and will kill us and our children if we have the wrong Commander in Chief. ..a willingness to put aside the importance ..war against terror and make believe a Hillary Clinton or a Barack Obama would keep us safe from further attack is where I step off of the anti- McCain bandwagon. These three people are simply not interchangeable.

Don't forget to blame the "losertarians", the "Hucklebees", the "FredHeads", the "Bushbots", and the marble carrying conservatives....anyone will do. Don't represent your constituency. Blame them!!

When all elected, and campaigning Republicans are identified RINOs, the word ceases to have any meaning. They are not RINOs, they are simply Republicans.

I am already growing tired of these articles where party hacks lecture us like unruly children. I will not support an enemy of the United States Constitution just because there is some even worse enemy elsewhere. We should oppose all enemies, foreign and domestic.

“I like to think big picture, like an adult. The scenario is having Hilary or Obama make Jimmy Carter look like Abe Lincoln. Then in 4 years we can elect anyone we choose. If we can live for 4 years by not having Al Queda detonate a nuke in a major city it may work.”

If Hillary gets in she will not be a one-termer. It just won’t happen.

That's what I told myself in 1992... 4 years, then they'll all see they should have listened to us, then surely we can take back the White House... Of course it didn't work that way.

There was a big shift in Congress in 1994, though... and Clinton didn't really govern as a hardcore liberal. He was more interested in soaking up admiration and chasing tail than in pushing a leftist agenda.

Well said! Now, here in Texas, Hoa Tran (the female Oriental medicine woman, i.e. witch doctor) is still on the primary ballot. So, we still have a place to go that isn't McCain, hehehehehe

And I’ve heard the same argument every single presedential election I’ve ever voted in except the two where Reagan was the candidate. Worked every time till now.

To me it’s not that he will be worse than either Democrat, he won’t. Despite him being an obstacle that the Republicans always had to deal with within the party, there is still some clear differences in the voting records between McCain and Hillary and Obama. Right to Life being one. However is is not popular with the conservative base and I don’t think that is going to change much in 9 months. We have to look back at how razor thin close the last two elections were when we had a “popular” George Bush running. Does anyone think the GOP has a chance nominating a candidate that is much less popular than Bush was? You want a sign of how the GOP is not impressed with McCain. Following the Bush speech at CPAC yesterday the crowd was chanting "4 more years, 4 more years."

I voted for Bush but my vote did not elect him. Bush got elected because he was liked by voters and disliked by the MSM and Washington insiders. McCain will not get elected with or without my vote because the opposite is true. McCain is too too arrogant to be liked by the average voter and he is absolutely loved by the MSM and Washington insiders. Forget the stupid political comparisons. Bush carried swing voters because he was more likeable that an arrogant Washington insider Senator named John Kerry. McCain has no chance against Obama. Obama is just more likeable than McCain to voters who really matter the ones in the middle who decide elections. Obama is running as an outsider which he is not and he is not even mentioning ideology. Obama is the recepient of a lotta of MSM love, but besides that he comes off as a likeable guy. There is more reason to be scared of Obama than McCain because he is so inexperienced and naaive. But in the long run he will beat McCain for the same reason Bush beat Kerry, and that is, he is more likeable.

That's what happened after Goldwater was abandoned by the "moderates". The, "at least he's better than Johnson" argument didn't work on them then.

In the long run, it will do us more good to watch McCain become a 50-state loser in 2008. It will usher the return of conservatism to the GOP

What in the world is wrong in America?

I agree, although I would point out that I went behind enemy lines and voted in the Demon primary. I'm still washing my hands.

Not a thing changed? Do you think we would be in the same boat after 9-11 economically, judicially and militarily if Gore had won in 2000 or Kerry in 2004?

The dims do have power in Congress and the only thing that stopped them from surrendering in Iraq where we were winning was GWB.

This outrage and claim that McCain is as bad as Hillary is just not true.

In the next four years there will be 2-3 new judges, speaking of long term.

I can't see McCain winning. McCain will melt down in the debates with either Clinton or Obamanation. The press will turn on him now. Even if he holds on through debates, those who hate Clinton will more likely vote for Obamanation not McCain. Many Repubs who can't stand McCain and won't vote for him will be allowing a dim to win.

Even if he does happen to win the Presidency, I keep hearing we can put pressure on McCain.....I don't see him giving in to pressure, he's arrogant and too proud of being the maverick.

If you think McCain won’t be better than either one,

What will it matter after McAmnesty and 40+++ and then some more + million new Democrats added to the electorate?

Here's what I have concluded the past couple of days: when it comes down to it, our servicemen and women stand between us and the Darkness....Hillary and Obama have little appreciation for that fact...nor do their supporters, and that's an important part...

Much as I detest McCain's positions on certain important issues, McCain to a significantly greater degree will support our military, as will most of us who vote for him.

I understand but destroying our own candidate is just stupid especially when the alternative is really really bad.

Our only chance will be that the alternative to the moderate and independent is a closet Muslim whose middle name is Hussein and an wicked spiteful woman and he equally wicked and spiteful husband.
