Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?

Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?

If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?

Can you make the case without bringing up the War?

Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?

Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)

Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?

Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?

Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?

Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?

Can you?

The ball is in your court.

I fail to see how helping the Democrats win by not voting is the best way to return us to Conservatism. The stakes are high. We’re still at war and the next president will appoint lifelong judges to the Supreme Court. So letting Hillary or Obama do those things doesn’t help conservatism in the short or longterm. It’s quixotic and fatuous to think you win by losing.

I will never vote for McCain. Never! He is a sellout of the highest order. Time to form the Conservative Party.

if he were a conservative, I would feel better. everyone knows that the VP is largely ignored. McCain would go back to his old habit of selling out conservatives!

we need as many conservatives in the senate to see to it that the wishes of the people are carried out, not those of the Beltway insiders.

No one can make a case for McCain without the war.

It’d be irresponsible to ignore a war we’re fighting, and dangerous to ignore the fact that the President is Commander-in-Chief.

Patrick Ruffini's advice to Team McCain on Hugh Hewitt's blog:

Don't spend the next few days sending out endorsement releases from every elected in the party saying, "We've had our disagreements in the past, but..." "It's time to unite as a party..." etc.

This does nothing to inspire the base. It only feeds the "a-Republican-not-a-conservative" worries about McCain's support. It feels like the establishment trying to pour cold water on conservatives.

We don't need a conservative base that has been tamed, mollified, and subdued. We need a base that is fired up.

Instead, do what McCain himself did yesterday: roll out a new conservative side of himself we hadn't seen before. Do one of these every day the Democratic primary is still in limbo. While he had made vague promises in the primary about vetoing "pork barrel spending bills," yesterday was the first time (that I can remember) that he specifically pledged to veto a bill with any earmark in it.

His tearing into the Dems on FISA was also good.

FARS...

McCain will treat us conservatives like the ugly girl in the bar at closing time. Say anything to get her out the door and on her back. When he’s done with us he will call us whores and tell us to get out. We will say “I feel like I was being used” to which he will say “let me confirm it for you”

Nope, I won’t do it. Like Romeny said, “ I have always wanted to vote for myself for president” and that is exactly what I will do. At least I will have my self respect in the morning.

Interesting McCain Quote

"It's a difficult thing to say. But now that I've seen what the bombs and the napalm did to the people on our ship, I'm not so sure that I want to drop any more of that stuff on North Vietnam."

Good list, Checkers. One could also add:

Can you state one positive reason to vote for McCain -- one that is CONSISTENT with his record and voting history, not with his current "epiphanies"?

("Keep Hilary/Obama out" is not a "for" reason.)

Yes, that would be the only way....if he chose a conservative VP....

Somehow that would be the litmus test for many.

Well McCain said economics was not his strong suit...obviously the finally told the truth. Earmarks are bad...but the key to solving the economic problems is finding answers for the TRILLIONS of dollars of entitlement spending. Thats what is killing America, the trillions of dollars of IOU’s for money promised that we cannot pay without major changes. Medicare and Medicaid are killing this Country alone, add welfare and Social Security and then you will find the real problem. Most politicians, both Dems and Repubs IGNORE this issue for fear of losing their jobs. McCain is silent on these issues other than to bitch about companies making profits.....straight talk express my butt!

““We will take from you to give to others for the common good.””

How’s that for a reason why I will vote for McCain?

And require TWO Republican votes for a Republican to balance out your lack of a vote for the Nominee?

I respect your principles and agree that McCain is not my favorite person BUT do you really think the Democrats won’t gangbang the ugly girl if her friends abandon her?

McCain may be the better of the only available bad choices. Take a look at this “alternative your not voting may bring.
