Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?
If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?
Can you make the case without bringing up the War?
Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?
Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)
Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?
Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?
Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?
Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?
Can you?
The ball is in your court.
I’m aware of the quote, but do you really think you will do better with Obama Clinton, particularly if there are several retired justices?
I’m a bit more comforted to know that he has former Soliciter General Ted Olsen on his Judicial Advisory Committee.
Nothing is perfect, but you have to play the cards you are dealt. That is life.
I wasn’t speaking of sincerity. I was speaking of the inevitability of any candidate to use the Reagan name when trying to equate themselves with Conservatism. This tactic will continue to be used by any candidate who can. To be shocked by it is amazing.
A kindergartener could realize that ingratiating themselves with the listener by using a soft and fuzzy reference of a better time is one of the techniques that will always be met with favorable results by those who WANT to listen to it.
McCain’s goal is to be elected by the American public, the vast majority of which view RINOS favorably. You saw Super Tuesday, didn’t you? They voted for McCain.
I hope this site is carefully monitored by the conservative leaders as well and they are paying attention. Somehow it seems to me they no longer care what we want and are determined to lead us farther to the left with each election. I feel like I am in the old show Twilight Zone.
Is it? McCain will be had for breakfast by the press. AND the Clintons. AND Obama.
I believe that we wuz had. I believe the press covered only who they wanted to run. No matter how I vote, McCain will lose. There is enough to smear him from here to kingdom come. And the Dems will use it. I truly believe that this election cycle was manipulated.
If he gets elected President, that's one less RINO in the Senate.
McCain may not be the best man in the US for our WOT, but if he is 90% better than the Democrats, 80%, 50% 10%, 0.001% better than the Democrats of the WOT I will vote for him. This is about life and death for our soldiers and citizens.
If you honestly believe "Maybe the pain of having a Democrat administration will wake people up like the Carter administration did.", then put your money where your mouth is, send the DNC money and vote for them.
I am wondering how you can believe he will be that strong against the terrorists when he is on record saying they need attorneys and access to our legal system.
I always consider our military when I vote, and in the back of my mind I think he would be better for the military than Hillary or Obama- yet he did stab Rumsfield in the back and he did say he thinks Gitmo should be closed and we should handle terrorists like common criminals, in our courts- which leaves me puzzled about which direction he would really go with the war.
Voting for McCain is like voting for 20 lashes.
Voting for the dem (or not voting at all) is like voting for 40 lashes.
I agree with you. We don’t have a fair and balanced media. FNC comes the closest, but even their personalities have their own agendas. The MSM is overwhelmingly left-wing.
But the bottom lines remains, is it better to do nothing, or is it better to mimize your losses? Is there an opportunity to go on the offensive? If we just fold our arms and so “no”, then we better be prepared to take what is given to us.
There is one thing and only one thing McStain could say that would make me hold my nose and vote for him. Frankly, I don’t think it’s asking for much, but until I hear it, I’ll be voting Constition Party.
“I’ve said I believe Global Warming is real. But it is possible I could be wrong. I will remain open-minded on the subject, and will examine all the available evidence before making any policy decisions. And if it turns out that Global Warming is nothing more than a big fat socialist scam designed to increase government control over the economy, I’ll fight the people who make such proposals tooth and nail.”
That’s it. Say that, McStain, and you have my vote.
Hank
“Does anyone on this forum honestly believe McCain can beat either Hill/Bill or Obama?”
He can beat Hillary, but not Obama.
If McCain is the nominee, and he likely will be (as I have said here before), the case for voting for him is a simple one: The alternative is HillaBill. Do you really need a better reason than that?
Having said that, no Republican can win this election. Period. Most of the voters in this country are not ideological conservatives. Most voters describe themselves as “moderates” or middle of the road. What that really means is that they vacillate over the years on various issues of importance, and may be won over by either Republican or Democrat candidates. The Republican Party under Bush has squandered its credibility, and much of the country wants “change.” A Democrat in the WH is inevitable next year. McCain has the best chance against a Dem, precisely because he is NOT a conservative, but even he is likely to fall short. Die-hard conservatives will not vote, and the “soft” Republican (non-ideological) voters and independents will go Democrat. It is inevitable, in large part because of an unpopular war in Iraq and a severe recession that will be in full force by November.
‘You might not see that as a major concern, but I consider it to be huge.’
Huge is one thing, but effective surrender to an already encroaching enemy is another. And if Conservatism is what I think it is, McCain is hardly capable of destroying it. At the worst, he will prove its truth through failure because there are enough of us around to point that out, At best, he will see the wisodom of adhering to the basic tenets as a means to get even some of what he may want in his heart—like GW— he is a politician when it comes down to it.
Are you all talk? Will you send money to the DNC, help the campaign, and vote for Obama/Hillary? Put your money where your mouth is. Whats loosing another war worth to you? 3000 soldiers lives spent in this war, and you want to give it to Obama or Hillary. I dont think you mean it. If you do, then go to the DU and start promoting your new party.
Do I despise McCain? Yes I do.
But we have been together here for several years, we have owned talk radio, and we couldn't get a nominee.
We need to take what we can get, and figure out a way to bring more to our cause.
I am not prepared to give Al Queda their President.
The Republican Party squandered its credibility by demonstrating that conservatism was nothing more than a half-baked version of socialism. Socialism-lite is in fact the least defensible position to take (if implementing socialism is worth doing at all, it's worth doing well; if it's not worth doing well, it's not worth doing at all), but that's all most people hear from most Republicans.
Bwahahahahaha!

We have talk radio, but they have the public schools, the colleges, TV (shows and News), the news papers, the unions, the movies, and most all gov institutions. We have ALLOT of work to do FRiend to get conservatism back. I hope this is the last time I have to vote RINO.
