Republican John McCain asked disgruntled conservatives to support his presidential bid on Thursday, shortly after Mitt Romney ended his struggling campaign and made McCain the all-but-certain nominee.
McCain assured a conference of conservative activists he was one of them, citing his commitment to win in Iraq, halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and rein in the federal government while drawing sharp contrasts with potential Democratic opponents Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
McCain's speech, which drew boos on the topic of illegal immigration, followed by a few hours Romney's surprise announcement at the conference that he was ending his run to allow Republicans to focus on the November election.
"I feel I have to now stand aside, for our party and for our country," the former Massachusetts governor told the shocked crowd, some of whom gasped and shouted "No, no!" in response.

I'm glad you took it that way. :-)
I share your disgust with McRINO and the trend you
point to regarding our candidates getting less and
less conservative! :(
But there is only ONE thing I can think of that would
be worse than a McRINO as President, and that is
having Billary or the Obamassiah for Prez! :^O
I did the early voting thing here in Texas this last
Wednesday and voted for Fred Thompson, btw...
Well.....truth be told....I wish it was none of the above!
I respect your thoughts, Meek, but, on this one, I gotta agree more with joanie. I do think that if one of the Rats was a president, then the Republicans would unite against her agenda and fight it because ALL the conservatives and maybe a good portion of the Republican base would be against anything/much of what they want to do. With the "R" after their White House presidency, the Senators and Representatives would not "feel" any allegiance to rubber-stamping whacked out/liberal policies, whereas with someone who's got that "R" after their name....they'll just cave into whatever McRino wants. That's how I see things (besides what joanie wrote, of course).
I think that is how I will vote this November!
None of the above!
I don't like ANY of the choices we have right now.
I'd sure like to have MY country back. :(
lolol That presents a dilemma though.
You could “leave it blank.” But, after Algore and the chad scam, if you did leave it blank, they were “divining” intent of blank chads.
I don’t think there’s a box for “none of the above.”
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
what to do....what to do.
Me too!
boooomp!
that’s better than a chad! : )
Well...considering the alternative
Mau Mau or Madame DuFarge
hehe! :^D
And on that note, I think I better hit the horizontal
rack for a few hours.
Catch ya later on. :)
sleep well, Meek!
See you later.
