'Cause, like, principles are sooooooooo 1980s!
So let me get this straight. If you want $2.00 and I offer $1.00, you’ll not take it because you didn’t get everything you wanted?
I’ll be right next to you on the blame list!
If I catch your drift correctly, I agree. The victors in 2004 thought conservatism was being well served. Well here we are carrying on that grand tradition.
I heard that monologue. Sure didn’t seem as long when Rush gave it.
He’s absolutely correct. He set the marker in media stone and now we know where to look for it when the Republican Elites pound the wrong bunch of people.
the Republican Party’s RINO establishment is set to blame the conservative base for the inevitable debacle.
++++++++++++++++++++
If all the conservatives stay home and McCain loses by inches who else is there to blame?
If you dare not to support what's forced upon you, you are branded as the cause of their defeat.....
Sorry, Rush, you were very late to the dance. You could have made a difference over the summer.
“Establishment Reublican” = status quo, the GOP has undergone these ideological battles both in ‘64 and ‘76. look what happened.
The MSM is the Fourth (Liberal) Estate, who’s now ensured that the next POTUS will be a liberal just like them.
If I recall correctly, the Nader democrats had plenty of principles...and we know what happened to them.
Again, it’s politics. If you want to win, then you go with the guy who can win...if you would rather lose by standing firmly on principles, well, that’s another way to go. However, the object of the exercise is to win.
Let’s give up the WH for 4 years. We’ll get it back in 2012. If we stand behind mclame now, it will just prove to the RINOS that we will back ANYTHING they throw our way, even someone who detests us. THAT would be a mark on us, not them.
Rush naied it, I caught most of it today, they are on notice, they are not going to pin this mess on him.
Let see about this Falcon Party or Savage's Party post November, WE need a new home folks....,
How about the RNC and the Republican establishment that told the conservatives to "kiss our a@#" ?????
You've used conservatives when you needed them. You've not led; you've not kept your promises, and now you're promoting a candidate who spent years leading the effort to marginalize the party and demean conservatives in a host of critical issues! You establishment Republicans created this mess.
Rush said it better than I ever could.
If McCain gets this nomination, he will have done it by getting votes from liberals and independents. No conservative would vote for this impostor!
democrats dont have principles, your next point?
He railed on McCain for weeks. Who won?
Do you really think we’re here because of Rush? Seriously?
What does “ANYONE BUT MCCAIN” mean to you if not “ANYONE BUT MCAIN”?
if you would rather lose by standing firmly on principles, well, thats another way to go. However, the object of the exercise is to win.

Guess I don’t know what I would have done in the era of Hitler, Stalin or Saddam.
IMHO, if you don’t have passion for your principles you have affectively given your freedom to the “winners”.
“If all the conservatives stay home and McCain loses by inches who else is there to blame?”
If you had an ounce of thought, you would already know the answer....HIMSELF!
Because McCain’s not a conservative, which makes the party nothing more than an empty brand name.
You don’t fly Pan Am any more do you? It’s out of business. So is this party, since it no longer represents conservatism.
The coalition party is across the aisle. That’s the entire point of Rush’s monologue - the Big Tent was a deal with coalition government, and it failed.
Conservatism, Reagan-style, was based on unifying principles of government, and the ability of Reagan to communicate that vision.
That’s clearly gone. McCain is a FAR WORSE communicator than W, and that is saying an awful lot. But what is more important is that McCain has no coherent set of governing principles.
If the Social Democrats, which are essentially social liberals and fiscal/foreign policy conservatives, wanted to form a party, they should have. But they didn’t.
They pulled a boardroom coup and ousted the founders, which is a too common tale. So, now the Social Democrats are going to see if they can stretch the brand one more business cycle.
Politicians, however, make bad marketeers, because they don’t understand product. Conservatism is the product, and it’s a good product - out of favor now because times are realtively good.
It wouldn’t be far off to say that this year, the Republican’s product is going to be Made in Mexico (Hecho en Mexico) because it may well be the case they’ll be bootstrapped into the Oval Office by the illegal alien vote.
Conservatives, for all intents and purposes, from this day forward, are their own political party. It’s been coming for years, but that’s where it’s at.
Conservatives, Social Democrats, and Liberal Democrats. It’s kind of weird to see the US morphing into a parliamentary style coalition government. It’ll be an interesting decade.
