McCain or Bust...Conservatives, will you vote?

Posted on 02/07/2008 12:06:38 PM PST by WiseGuyF686

No articles on here, I apologize. I just wanted to bring a little bit of opinionated discussion in at this point, now that we stand on the brink of setting American back 4-8 years...

The conservative candidates are out of race, and it looks like it's McCain or bust. How many of you will close your eyes and vote for McCrazy over Obama or Hillary, in order to do minimal damage to America over the next preidential term...and how many of you will sit home and watch the sky fall?

Personally, I'll do just about anything to keep the Clintons at bay, including vote for John McCain.

"..it seems like most here would rather live in the People’s Republic of HillObama.."

Actually, more like we have seen what has been happening to this country for years, under the watchful eye of liberal Republicans, and we are saying that's just enough.

No more liberals. Ever.

And if I detect complaining coming from your keyboard, may I point out that there was a genuine conservative running, and most FReepers ridiculed him.

Probably couldn't recognize a conservative if you bumped into one.

"Even if only slightly better I’ll take who McCain nominates over the Dem’s"

May I remind you that "slightly better" or "moderate" or "liberal lite" is precisely how we got to where we are now:

Deep in liberal doo-doo.

I think you are confusing me with a die-hard McCain supporter. You’d be wrong. All I’m trying to say is that if we are going FURTHER left as a country, I’d rather take the shortest trip.

Don’t you have a “suicide vote” to cast for Hillary?

Me too. Not voting is just giving up. And for those who say look how Jimmie Carter helped the party by his ineptitude I say don’t kid yourself, Carter was just inept, Clinton/Obama aren’t. They will move this nation to the left and it will be years before we recover, if ever. Do what must be done! Do I want to vote for him, NO, but will I, YES and I will do it as long as his running mate isn’t named Clinton or Obama.

"Don’t you have a “suicide vote” to cast for Hillary?"

No.

The last democrat I voted for was George Wallace.

Nope, not voting for any democrats. Unless they somehow nominate a conservative.

I think trying to stop political discourse on the internet would require shutting down the internet. Think that will happen?

I did look at it, but the list of negatives is far worst for the Dem’s. All I’m saying is if we don’t vote McCain or stay home the Dem’s will get in. Is that what you want?

Does that pic of him with hands at side during the national anthem reflect on character too?

That was certainly a poor decision on his part, but I don't think it reflects his overall character. Unfortunately, many people today do not show proper respect to the flag or the anthem.

McCain's marital history, however, certainly reflects his character or lack thereof. If you can't keep a promise you make to your spouse, how on earth can I expect you to keep a promise you make to the country at large?

So standing stubbornly with our arms crossed, pouting like a bunch of 6 year olds will get the message across to the Party to head more to the right?

The time to have done that 8 years ago. Now we must NOT let the Dem's get in the White House.

I’m not so sure about that. I work elections and in the primaries actually had Democrats asking where McCain was on their ticket (they aren’t too smart you see). One said she would never vote for a woman and wanted to vote for McCain, one thought McCain was a Democrat (can’t say I blame him too much for that). Had several Independents who wanted to vote for him, of course they couldn’t being independent and all. (:^)

Oh, it can get far far worse then that.......

And it doesn’t need fun comparative graphics.

It is chilling all by itself.

No, 8 years ago we fell for the BS line you're trying to hand us now.

"Conservatives who will not vote for John McCain will, in effect, cast their vote for Hillary Clinton. I know which evil is lesser."

Are you all that sure?

A hitlery administration would at least provide a rallying point for what is today a quite ragged and disunited republican party. It could even force today's congressional RINOs to pause and listen to their constituents. They'd surely not feel that need with McLame in the saddle - wouldn't dare.

Ideally, it would leave McCain leading a very small charge to the left while the rest reformed (slightly) right of center.

Or not.

Finally - I don't know what I'll do, either alternative will hurt like a root canal marathon.

But I seriously believe that any vote for McLame will be merely ceremonial; there ain't a chance that a left leaning republican, probably joined by a self defined evangelical minister as VP, will beat hillary's warm, fuzzy, vicious and unforgiving, steamroller.

So your answer is to allow the Dem’s the chance to mess us up further? How is that going to make the Republicans more conservative?

Agreed,

Unless you want commie-care shoved down your throats, get out there and campaign for the old crusty goat, and then get active in your local and state GOP.
