Okay, so this evening was like a glass of cold water hitting me in the face.
The GOP is on its way to nominating McCain as our Presidential candidate. If this happens, I WILL NOT vote Republican this Presidential election.
Here is my question, could Huckabee or Romney drop out, and endorse the other candidate, and request their delegates to join them in that support?
Could a VP promise from either of these men, with egos set aside, save the conservative vote?
I am willing to vote for EITHER of those two men for POTUS, and am willing to bet if the two were paired up, most conservatives would be willing to as well, especially considering the alternative.
I find it so laughable that McCain is calling himself the "true conservative" when nothing is further from the truth...
So, once again, is it possible for either of the candidates to do this?
From what I am reading on the Internet, I believe only a very few of Romney/Huckabee's delegates are hard, and could vote either direction once they convention comes around.

Just an idea I wanted to see what you guys thought of this, and if it would be possible or not.

They appear to both dislike the other personally and professionally. In fact, all the candidates seem to dislike Mitt this time around. Heck, even Huckabee and Obama hugged.
Its really on McCain, this morning that has started to say anything positive about Romney.
I think you're more likely to see Huckabee as veep on a McCain ticket than a Romney one.
I have a young nephew just getting ready to leave for Iraq. I’m sure his Mom would be elated if he didn’t have to go.
I sure do regret the choices some of my fellow party members have left me, but there it is.
Then you should have offered up someone electable and conservative enough for you.
Beyond that, I’ll continue to work for the conservative cause, and keep hope alive for my children.
I will not let any president, especially a democrat president define who I am, ever. I lived through Carter, I lived through Clinton, I can live through the worst they have to throw at us.
Let’s not screw ourselves by sitting out the election in November.

Ditto...my husband and I voted for Romney (would have voted for Thompson but he was off the ballot by the time our “turn” came around.) McCain is bad, but not as bad as Hillary and Obama when it comes to the war.
As far as McCain being electable...I think he probably will be because of the acrimony that’s going to exist when the Dems finish deciding who their candidate will be. Somebody asked “Where’s the angel in the whirlwind?” If there is one, it’s the battle that’s going to take place in the Democratic party.
If Obama wins hands down, that would make McCain’s electability harder, but I don’t think that will happen. If it did happen, you’ve got 2 senators, and experience versus inexperience when it comes to war issues. Poll after poll has proven that the American populace has not given up on the war, like the Dem leaders have.
But I think he and H will slug it out, and she will be nominated...turning off many of Obama’s supporters. If she offers him the VP, it still looks like she’s throwing him a bone, and the image of a woman President and behind her the black VP...well, you get the picture, not a pretty one to those with racial sensitivities.
Those ads make me want to throw a brick through my TV. It's like if Wendy's started running a campaign calling the Baconator the "true health food."

None of the Dems in the most recent debates pledged to bring back the troops before 2012. I don't think Al-Qaeda is going to throw in the towel just because a Democrat is elected, either. Withdraw, drawdown, then negotiate from a position of weakness? Right, great strategy.
I don't like it either, I'm a Romney supporter, Thompson before that (and Ann Coulter isn't running so I had to go with Fred or Duncan) but I'll hold my nose and vote for the nominee.
Romney and Huckabee despise each other on a personal level.
Agree..........McCain as GOP nominee equals DNC win and Americas loss.........Clintonistas want him too win IMO.
Question..... as I do not know.......is McCains lead due crossover voters for the primaries ?
DNC hardcore voting for him now and Clintonistas later ? Is that a valid possibility or myth ?
Huck has 2 degrees from a divinity school. That, and $5, will get him a Starbuck’s coffee. Administrative experience? Governor of ARKANSAS, for pete’s sake. That’s like saying the dim, Dem governor we’ve got is qualified to be President! Not.
Get a grip, folks, the Huckster is not Presidential material in any century, certainly not this one.

After the primary, the nominee will be facing Obama or Hillary.
Either one of them have liberal views that dwarf the sins of McCain.
As opposed to screwing ourselves by pretending McCain is better than Hillary? Not me. I lived through Carter and Clinton, and I'll live through Clinton II or Obama or McCain.
Or I won't. Whichever way, none of the three will get my permission to put the gun to my head.
