I once encountered an evangelical who did not consider the eastern othodox faith to be “true christian” despite the fact that their service has not changed much over 1800 years and the orginal language of the bible is still used in many local branches.
We would be all over the Rev. JHaaaaakson or Rev. Al for playing the Rev. card but somehow Huckster gets a free pass because he is playing the part of McCain’s bill clinton.

Yeh, I was thinking that all the independents would go for McCain with the Repubs but now I know the Repubs will not vote for McCain and the independents will go for Obama so Obama can beat McCain and you say Hillary can too since not many Repubs will vote?

Don’t we already have threads on FR for discussing religion?
~~
We, the General Assembly of Virginia do enact that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested or burthened in his body or his goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.

She has worn out her welcome in Cali. Actually its BILL who has done a great deal to sink her out here. They have BOTH worn out their welcome here. Let's hope she wore out her welcome BEFORE the thousands of absentee voters got their say. They're banking on those to bring her to victory in CA, so say the pundits.

Just spend a day on FR...how many FReepers have stated over and over that they will NOT vote for McCain. How can he win if everyone sits home?

Ha. I used the Elmer Gantry comparison with Huck several days ago and it is apt. Your post is right on the mark.
Hell, there is one FReeper here who said God told him to vote for Huck - My question “How long have you been hearing these voices”.
This religious stuff has got to go IMO.

It reminds me of when many Christians were duped into voting for born again Christian Jimmy Carter. The Repulican party sux. First they have states where dems and indys are permitted to cross over and give a liberal momentum and then you can actually get the most votes in another state and still lose. Screw em'. I won't vote McCain. That's the last establishment piece of garbage they will ever force feed me.

Come on, now. You know I'm not talking about all Catholics or even most Catholics. I don't even really think that Catholics tend to be more distrustful of Mormons than other Americans. You have to admit there are more than a couple, though. There is too much data out there which suggests that his religion is viewed more negatively than positively by a very large number of Americans.
I included Catholics because I don't think his speech was designed to allay the distrust some secular Americans have of Mormons. I'm simply saying that his speech was designed to show that he's a man of faith, too, and to counter some of the aura of weirdness that surrounds his religion. That's something designed to appeal to church-going Protestants and Catholics, mostly.
Look, I don't particularly want to be an apologist for Romney or for Mormons. I, like you, don't care one way or another about the man's religion. I just think it's unfair and, frankly, a bit ludicrous to say that he's running on his religious identity in anything like the same way Mike Huckabee is running on his.
To: longtermmemmory
The left wing have bought the GOP.When did Romney buy the GOP? His actions as opposed to his words show him to be part of that Left wing.

I just heard a number that astonished me...they said that Obama has a 30 pt lead over Hillary among men in California.... I'm not surprised. I don't have nearly the visceral reaction with Obama (not that I'd vote for him, of course) that I have with Hillary.
The screaming harrigan just gets to me, I guess...and I'm a woman!
