Romney has the leadership qualities United States needs (Herman Cain endorsement)
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 2/3/2008 | Herman Cain

Posted on 02/03/2008 12:35:24 PM PST by littlehouse36

The dynamics of political party connections, the political process itself and public perceptions have once again yielded the top two contenders of each major party in the 2008 presidential race. And once again, the public can only hope that the ultimate winner of the White House will be a candidate with the most leadership substance.

My vote is for Mitt Romney.

I do not question the character, integrity or sincerity of either Mitt Romney or John McCain, nor do I question their desire to do what's best for the country. I do not worry that they would fan the flames of social and religious differences. My focus is on their prospective leadership relative to national security, the economy, federal spending, free-market health care solutions and the elimination of dysfunctional programs.

If McCain is the GOP nominee, then Republican will get blown out of Congress. This race isn’t just about president. It is also for one-third of the Senate and all of the House.

Liberals will come out to vote for... Democrats.
Moderates will come out to vote for McCain and... Democrats.
Conservatives will stay home and not vote for anyone.

When it’s all over, Democrats will have a filibuster-proof Super Majority in the Senate, and margins so wide in the House that the liberals will run amok.
Republican governors will fall across the country.

This is what McCain brings to the GOP ticket. This is his unseen legacy in the GOP.

I’ve said it already on another thread, but here again, I supported Thompson and Hunter for 2008, but now we have no viable and acceptable choice but Mitt Romney for President. Though Romney is far from perfect, McCain and Huckabee are charlatans and I suspect both of them to be Democrat moles. Without a miracle,i.e. a return of Fred or some other dream candidate (Bolton or Pace), we ought to get our support behind Romney.

Romney probably has the most breadth of any of the Republicans, having at one time or another been on every side of all the important issues. Such flexibility could come in handy in an uncertain future or when the political winds change direction. Romney has also been endorsed by Donny and Marie Osmond, who I have heard may be dance contestants on some reality TV show.

Knock on wood, SolidWood!

Romney has over 70% of freepers behind him. Many of us I assume supported others more conservative earlier in the race, but now things are critical. We cannot afford another 8 years, or even 4 years, of a RINO, a baloney sandwich! I want a STEAK SAN!! I want THE REAL THING, and Mitt is showing me he is the closest to that “real thing”.

My #1 issue is the Invasion by Mexico. It HAS to be stopped! We are at a crossroads. 5,000 to 10,000 illegal Mexicans and other foreign nationals are breaking into the U.S. and are NOT leaving! Some that have been here are going back, but most are just pulling up roots, adding to the subprime situation if they are homeowners, and moving to another state. The states are doing their share. We need a President who will do HIS! Bush could have stopped the Invasion cold right after 9/11, but chose not to.

The reason I believe that Romney can become even harder on this issue (and he MUST if we’re to save the nation from the Invasion by another country) is one recent email I received. Romney has enlisted the AWESOME anti-Invasion attorney Kris Kobach (who is also the legal cousel for Hazelton, PA whose case is on appeal) who just WON a HUGE precedent-setting decision in Valley Park, MO over the ACLU and MALDEF. It’s a LANDMARK, and hopefully, so will be Hazelton’s appeal. Kobach is also Chair of the Kansas GOP. Romney needs Kansas. He also needs Missouri. Gov. Blunt should be able to hand that state to him. Anyway, getting back to Kobach, he is the one who crafted Fred Thompson’s Immigration Statement. He is JUST the person Mitt needs to harden his Immigration stance! Getting Kobach on board was a coup, believe me. Others in the anti-Invasion movement have goten behind RP.

Regardless of who you support, make sure to vote in the new FR poll:

"Which GOP presidential hopeful do you want to see win the most delegates on Super Tuesday?"

Member Opinion
Mitt Romney 75.8% 964
Ron Paul 11.3% 143
Mike Huckabee 8.0% 102
John McCain 4.9% 62
100.0% 1,271

WOW!! This proves that a black liberal (as the AJC certainly is) news guy can see the future and vote smart instead of for race. God bless him!

Thank you. I’ve been saying this for a while myself, both here and with friends and others who will listen. Without Hunter or Fred we must take the best possible candidate and that is supporting Romney. He does offer the best road back to where we want to be.

Romney will at least fight the Democrats like he did in Massachusetts.

McCain works with Democrats more than Republicans in the Senate now, imagine what he would as POTUS.

When the majority of Conservative leaders and thinkers in this country support a candidate you do not, perhaps it is time for you to examine your motives.

Where’s the none of the above choice? I am sure it would be way out in front.

You’ll note in the article that Cain mentions NOTHING about Romney’s record as Governor. It’s very telling. Having to go back long before he was an elected official is decidedly unimpressive. It’s like writing an endorsement of O.J. Simpson basing it on everything BEFORE the murder of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. You cannot disregard his appallingly awful record AFTERWARDS.

In any event, there’s nothing wrong with my thinking as to right and wrong. Maybe if the weak-willed and the hysterical stopped to search their own souls, they’d see that they were in the wrong here in supporting a truly ghastly candidate that possesses neither the accomplishments, nor the honesty, integrity, or character to be the Republican standard bearer.

Uh, excuse me. Herman Cain is NOT a liberal.

I voted for him over Isakson here in Georgia because he is a great conservative.
