Yes, but that was serious. NFL football is just a game. Also, it might have been preferable to going home.
Nice try but this is not about Specter or his politics. This is about a coach who appears to have built his "genius" reputation and his career on false premises. And a team whose success and integrity are now tarnished.
W/E. Specter needs to keep his mind on his job. His job is not being a referee for the NFL or any other pro sports organization. His job is clearly defined by the constitution, which does not mention anything about policing pro sports.

Maybe for the unenlightened such as yourself. Jimmy Johnson said that he would send his interns into opposing team’s locker rooms and look for anything that they could find. In the corporate world that’s considered unethical and maybe even espionage but in the NFL it’s standard operating procedure. The Broncos violated the NFL salary cap back in the 90’s and were docked a draft pick. Does that mean Mike Shanahan’s credentials are questionable too? The Giants beat a superior team back in the 1992 Super Bowl with BB as their defensive coordinator. When he went to the Jets as their DC after he left the Pats the Jets almost went to the SB losing to the same team that was found to be cheating at the salary cap and keeping players they couldn’t have otherwise. He’s one of the best technical coaches in the game. He has no personality and he pushes the envelope too far on things but you are talking out your ass when you question his coaching abilities.
And he paid for it in spades. But I guess that’s not enough for some people. Some would like to see him drawn and quartered for doing something every coach in the NFL has attempted to do - namely get a competitive edge on their opposition. Again, you don’t think that coaches on the sidelines were covering their mouths and faces during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s because of Bill Bellichick do you? Come off it with your hatred for one man caught while giving a free pass for many others not. He paid the price, and his team didn’t benefit from it. Now you and your Pat’s hate club can bask in their glorious defeat in the SB. How pathetic.
And he’s doing it as a football fan of the Eagles. Talk about abusing his office. He stabs the Bush administration in the back in the WOT but he’s got time to investigate the Pats for why his football team lost 3 years ago.
I’m done posting to people who find the highlight of their day trashing an entire organization, and delighting in their loss. Now, talk about poor sportsmanship. I agree with you. There are many more important things going on in the world than to waste time hating one man or one organization.
I find that rooting for someone to lose is the mark of a loser. I have heard people whine about breaking video taping rules, running up the score, the coach not being nice and a whole bunch of other stuff. Even though they beat everyone each week and sometimes in rather impressive fashion it never was enough.
They lose one game and they are chumps. The guys who won last night’s game lost 6 games all year and they are suddenly a better team? The Pats were playing for something bigger than a mere SB, they were playing for a perfect season. They won more games in a row than the 1972 Dolphins who played a weaker schedule overall. The Giants won last night fair and square but on the whole they underperformed just about all year. They got three chances to beat the Cowboys. Three. Funny but of the Pats had lost the first meeting and won the rematch then things would be soooooo different in everyone’s eyes because in people’s minds the guy who wins the last game is the better team.

It was a book about the Patriots.
I just looked again, and they pulled it.
Yes, it’s quite pathetic the way some people have jumped on the Giants bandwagon with the only intent of being against another team. There’s nothing that any member of the Pat’s organization can do that would please any of these whinners, so why should they care. I hope next year they make it back to the SB and win it just so they can put it in the face of their detractors.
Both teams deserve to be praised for their performance on the field yesterday. Both teams played their hearts out.
No, I believe what happened is that a drug lord came up to him and casually shot him, saying: :”Thanks for the auto-gol.” (The unfortunate player had kicked the ball into his own team’s goal.)
Attempting to cast doubts on Specter's involvement is just a poor attempt to keep any facts from emerging. So you don't want to know that your coach and team are cheaters and you will do or say anything to smear the messenger, I understand that. I don't agree with it, but I understand your frustration after having your hearts ripped out last night. But covering up your ears and screaming doesn't change things.
If the truth comes out and absolutely proves that no illegal taping took place at any time during the Belichick era than I would think you would welcome a more thorough investigation because, I don't know whether you noticed it or not but, if you check the various forums (be it SI or ESPN)? Everybody outside of Massachusetts believes the team and coach are tarnished way beyond repair. The Patriots, in fact, may never live it down until Belichick retires and just goes away.

Come now. Everyone not only has that right, but sometimes it’s the way they pick who to root in a game otherwise they don’t care about. And what’s wrong with picking AGAINST somebody?
Is it wrong to say you’re voting for GOP just because you hate Hillary and don’t want her to win? Just to keep her out?
I’m a horse-racing fan. I don’t hate horses (and they unlike human athletes have NO reason to truly hate them), but I often find myself hating owners - for good reason, I think. What’s the most annoying are the UAE and other shiekhs who are big into this sport all over the world. Trying to cover what they’re really up to, subverting any “infidel”. Some people are sanctimonious about how Sheikh Mohammed is such a nice good guy and UAE is working so hard with USA, but I’m sorry, I don’t trust Moslem bigwigs of any alleged stripe. Often I don’t care much about any horses in the race. If Sheikh’s is running, I’ll root AGAINST his horses. Gladly.
BTW, I’m sure the vast majority of us aren’t “haters”. Some of us just point out the obvious facts and that’s about it. Sometimes, facts hurt. Methinks thou dost protest too much. I for 1 sure as heck don’t spend alot of time thinking about football generally, much less specific offenders. Don’t presume we’re consumed by this, any more than you might be consumed defending them.
My heart wasn’t ripped out. I knew that the Giants were going to be formidable, and that the end would be in doubt until the final whisle. I give kudos to the Giants for a very well played game against a very good team.
Having said that, where in the constitution does it give any member of congress the responsibility to meddle in what is a private enterprise where there is no breach in constitutional issues? Specter is using (abusing) his office for a purpose that has nothing to do with his office, and he’s doing it for personal reasons. Your hatred for the Pat’s can’t be used to justify the abuse of a political office.
