Mike Huckabee, frustrated with the argument brought by his rival Mitt Romney , and some conservative commentators, that a vote for Huckabee would split votes from Romney, and help front runner John McCain, fired back, hitting Romneys record head on.
Actually a vote for me is a vote for me. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for a liberal.
How very true.
So far Tom Brokaw, The Beltway Boys and Tim Russert have all run stories of Mike’s running to be McCain’s VP. Based on his continual attacks on Romney and his smoochie face relationship with the “front running” McCain, you think they’re on to something?
We thought George was a follower of the Christ. Now we know he is working for the Evil One. He is giving YHvH's city, Jerusalem, to the Evil One Amen 1
Because at this point he is the closest thing to a christian running.
Everyone needs to take a second look at Wendi Deng - Rupert Murdoch’s young, Chinese wife.
It sure looks like it. - What’s the deal with Huckabee destroying the hard drives on the computers when he left office in Arkansas? That sounds like, well, like something Clinton would do.
No we don’t know that. Pray for him.
Maybe it’s something they teach in public schools:’)
I like this thread. So far it’s balanced. A little more Romney supporters but some McCain and Huckabee too...and we are talking mostly about issues!
I reflect on and pray for wisdom and understanding daily for all who are lost.
McCain is a former Episcopalian who now attends a Baptist church (his wife is Baptist)...he's not a member and is not baptized Baptist. Huckabee is Southern Baptist. Now compare that to Fred Thompson who said he didn't attend church any longer, except when visiting his mother in Tennessee.
Now how is it I've seen literally dozens of folks like you who come in & claim to know Huckabee's spiritual condition before God when none of you have pointed to either statements he's made or beliefs he & his fellow Baptists hold to? But my key point in mentioning that is why haven't we seen this same level of judgmentalism at stay-home-on-Sunday-morning Fred? Now granted, being in church doesn't make you a Christian any more than being in a garage makes you a car. But my interest is piqued that so many FReepers seem to know Huck "isn't" a Christian, but they never seem to get around to telling us upon what basis they are judging his "fruits."
That leads me to believe you must have some kind of spiritual x-ray machine. (Do you have a patent on that? You could make millions marketing & selling it! What a fantastic machine!)
When JFK became President we didn’t all convert to Catholicism. The same will be true if Mitt wins. We won’t be converting to Mormonism.
Get to know Mike: Some samples of Mike's lies: Huckabee promotes 'open door' policy at LULAC convention Thursday, Jun 30, 2005 By Wesley Brown Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you," Huckabee said, citing the Golden Rule. "I have tried to govern that way and it stands to reason that I really do believe that what made this great country so great and so unique is that it has always been a place for people to run to - and not run from. "I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...," Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation. Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock. About 10,000 political, community and business leaders, along with exhibitors and speakers are in Little Rock attending the convention at the Statehouse Convention Center. The convention started Monday and runs through Saturday. Although he never actually talked about the U.S. or Arkansas immigration policy, Huckabee made it very clear where he stood on the issue. In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base. "Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority," Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state's capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation. "Your gathering is so very significant for our state," Huckabee said. "We are delighted to have you." Despite several light moments, Huckabee did not stray away from several controversial issues that made him a target of criticism during the recently ended 85th General Assembly. He said Arkansas needs to make the transition from a traditional Southern state to one that recognizes and cherishes diversity "in culture, in language and in population." "This is an issue that is going to require extraordinary efforts on both sides of the border, particularly those coming from Mexico," Huckabee said of verifying the status of illegal aliens. "But I am confident that our government will recognize that we should accommodate people who wish to provide the best opportunities for their families (and) employers so that we can make sure our economy has the necessary work force." During the legislation session, Huckabee criticized an immigration bill by Republican senators Jim Holt of Springdale and Denny Altes of Fort Smith as un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life. Senate Bill 206, which died in the Senate, would have required proof of citizenship to register to vote and also force state agencies to report suspected cases of people living in the country illegally. Holt, R-Springdale, replied later to Huckabee's comments that Christian charity does not include turning a blind eye to lawbreaking. The Republican governor, who many believe will run for president in 2008, also backed legislation that would have opened the door for illegal immigrants in Arkansas to receive college scholarships. House Bill 1525 by Rep. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock, was approved by the House but eventually failed in the Senate. Huckabee reiterated Wednesday that he believes every child, regardless of their parent's immigration status, should have an opportunity to receive an education in the U.S. ÃÂ http://www.arkansasnews.com/archive/2005/06/30/News/323746.html On crime and being tough on immigration (LOL) Huckabee promotes 'open door' policy at LULAC convention Thursday, Jun 30, 2005 By Wesley Brown Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. The occasion prompts us to republish Murray Waas' prize-winning article for the Arkansas Times in 2002 about the extraordinary steps Gov. Mike Huckabee took to help win Dumond's freedom. He has since blamed others for Dumond's release to kill again, but his actions over many years demonstrated his support for Dumond and, ultimately, the instrumental role he played in the parole board's decision to free him. Special handling How the Huckabee administration worked to free rapist Wayne Dumond. By Murray S. Waas ÃÂI signed the [parole] papers because the governor wanted Dumond paroled. I was thinking the governor was working for the best interests of the state.ÃÂ ÃÂErmer Pondexter, ex-member of the board of pardons and paroles New sources, including an advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee, have told the Arkansas Times that Huckabee and a senior member of his staff exerted behind-the-scenes influence to bring about the parole of rapist Wayne Dumond, who Missouri authorities say raped and killed a woman there shortly after his parole. Huckabee has denied a role in DumondÃÂs release, which has become an issue in his race for re-election against Democrat Jimmie Lou Fisher. Fisher says HuckabeeÃÂs advocacy of DumondÃÂs freedom, plus other acts of executive clemency, exhibit poor judgment. In response, Huckabee has shifted responsibility for DumondÃÂs release to others, claiming former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker made Dumond eligible for parole and saying the Post Prison Transfer Board made the decision on its own to free Dumond. This is from his OWN home town newspaper. Defend MIKE or McCAIN as "Christian" or "conservative" for that matter. Good luck! Continue to be the blind bigot you are comforatable being. What we'll do as Bible based Christians, is pray for Mitt, whether he wins or not to become a Bible based Christian. We believe in the power of prayer. I find it very hypocritical that you don’t point out the unchristian stances that both McCain and Huckabee stand on that are unchristian and they CLAIM to be “Christian”. I can easily point to verses in the Bible that totally discredit BOTH of them. So we vote for the best candidate that espouses Biblical Principles in politics and that candidate is Mitt Romney.
A McCain/Huckabee ticket ...it could be worse. Even if it happens I don't think he will win. I'm going to send him an e-mail and ask though. We 'll see if he answers.
I use spiritual discernment.I review McShame on his record on destroying the Bill of Rights, inviting the invasion of this nation by criminals and terrorists. He is completely self-centered.
If you will check the Huckster was de-fellowshiped from the SBC for being a socialist.
Ronald Reagan did not attend a church for show like Slick Willi.
I am concerned about the Huck fever here. I could say the same...is this really FreeRepublic or a new religion site?
Romney has issues yes...but Huck is a disingenuous politician and far from a saint. He is a master of bait and switch.
Off the wall? I am sorry but the more I read about Huck the more HE is off the wall. And I find it amazing that so many otherwise intelligent people are buying into this man because he puts himself out there as a man of faith.
Show mw a post where we talk about Huckabee like he is a savior? Most of us supporting Huckabee are doing so because we have no other choice. We see his weak areas though. If you can’t see that some of these posts about him are getting very concerning...I don’t know what else to say to you. The truth is...neither one of them are worth fighting over IMO. Heck...I’m supporting Huckabee but I may still end up not voting for him. I have pointed out negative things about him but I have never had a Huckabee fan jump on me about it.
I have.
