On CNN yesterday, there was an amazing report on 400,000 Chinese with no food or water trapped at a railroad station for a week because of the enormous snowfall. They had been trying to get to the southern provinces of China because this is their once-a-year trip back to their families in the hinterlands during their biggest holiday. Troops have been trying to restore order there and throughout the parts of China that are effectively frozen in.
In a “battle with Heaven”, Heaven wins.

In the midst of our snickering at China’s misfortune, let’s take a minute to reflect on what effect a similar disaster (an area the equivalent of the US from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic Ocean, completely shut down - no power, no transportation, no reliable civic services) might have here at home....

Yes, Zejiang Province is near the mouth of Yangtze River. I doubt that they will get much snow.

I guess these pictures of thousands stranded at train stations with no heat, food, medicine, or water for 3 days didn't make it past the Chinese propaganda screeners.

The pictures are all controlled by the state media. See happy faces? Yep. The government is on a brink of riots and they are issuing propaganda that looks like everyone is ok. That is not an armored car but a Tank. More than likely a T - 62 or 72.

I think that they are located downstream from Three Gorges Dam. Wuhan is right along the river, while Hangzhou is somewhat away from the mouth of the river.
