"If you're looking at substance rather than whether it's an R or a D after his name...If he's our candidate, then Hillary's going to be our girl, Sean, cause she's more conservative than he is. I think she would be stronger on the war on terrorism. I absolutely believe that."

ding ding ding !

The truth of the matter is what you state. We got a conservative Congress leadership in ‘94 because of Clinton winning in ‘92.

So serving in the Armed Forces 40 years ago means no matter what has happened since is irrelevant ?

So much for a conservative point of view. He’ll screw you on taxes, spending, energy, open the borders, and in every respect sell out conservative positions and enjoy doing so, but that means nothing to you since he served 40 years ago.

Sorry, you are a RINO.

If McCain picks Huckabee as a running mate, I’ll consider your position.

I’m also voting for Hillary.

You need to change your tagline. Anyone that claims to be "right" and then proclaims that he's voting for the bitch, is a just angry and irrational.

I think the better rationale for not supporting McCain is like this: Next year, minority Republicans in the House and especially in the Senate will fight a President Hillary tooth and nail every step of the way. Those same minority Republicans will mostly roll over for a President McCain's same-as-Dimocrat agenda on higher taxes, moderate judges, un-free political speech, borders/immigration, global warming BS, the coddling of terrorists (no water board and they must get US lawyers), no drill in ANWR or Gulf Coast, opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment, he is for a massive energy green tax, etc.

Even on the WOT and military matters, I have no doubt that McCain would, if it became politically or personally expedient, join his Liberal friends on legislation or issues that would be to the detriment of the military.

That being the sad reality, I'd prefer an energized group of Republican politicians, pundits/talkers and the base opposing Hillary than bowing to the faux-Conservative McCain.

I think you're on to something. I've already written off the 2008 election based on the frauds we have left to vote for in the GOP. This almost gives me a glimmer of hope come the 2010 elections.

Yeah - an atheist lefty and a Christian socialist. I’m wondering if the Isle of Mann has room for another homestead.

I hope Ann Coulter was kidding, because if she was serious, it was an incredibly stupid remark. Maybe this will finally tarnish that halo so many Freepers believe Coulter has around her head.

“I’m also voting for Hillary.”

I’m voting for McCain, who is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-school choice, pro-market healthcare, pro-personal retirement accounts, pro-Israel, pro-free trade, pro-democracy in Iraq, pro-stopping Iran, and pro-killing OBL.

I find it Hillary-ious that idiots who claim to be the “conservative base” would put a closet Marxist in the White House over a real American hero like McCain.

Get a grip, people.

The next 10 months are just going to get worst. The only way the GOP can clean house is to lose. Sorry.

It didn't happen after the 06 loses. It won't happen if more occur in 08. The GOP is controlled by the liberal/centrist elements of the party.

Just has the old BlueDog/Southern/Reagan Democrats have seen their party move left, so has the GOP. Conservatives need to realize that. Neither the GOP nor the Dem party are conservative, nor are they moving in that direction, and nor are they opening up to the conservatives.

Unless the conservatives have enough numbers to retake the party, they need to find an alternative. The Dems may go with Obama, the MOST liberal Senator in the Senate. The Dems may go with Clinton, a leftist-playing-centrist just like hubby did. The Pubbies may go with McCain, a 'friend' to liberals and moderates, an advocate of infringing on the First Amendment, an advocate of open borders, and advocate of amnesty for anyone except the most hardened criminal illegals.

Those appear to be the choices. If conservatives vote for any of those, they deserve what they get. Conservatives seem to be gluttons for punishment -- they keep voting for the same and expecting a different result. Then they wonder why.

One additional thing: the nominee of each respective party becomes the de facto leader of that party. If that is Clinton, we know the Clintons. If that is Obama, the Dems will become even more liberal. If the GOP goes for McCain, who are his good 'friends'? Shumer, Specter, Lieberman, Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton, etc. How does McCain feel about Conservatives? Think middle finger.

Now, would you expect the GOP to suddenly turn Conservative with McCain as the nominee?

“Do you have any reason to believe that McCain’s SCOTUS nominees would be more conservative than Hillary’s?

The link below takes you to the National Journal 2006 Senate Conservative scores. Hillary was ranked 13th most conservative Democratic with a score of about 30%. McCain was ranked 46th most conservative Republican with a score of about 58%. Repubilcans have plenty of good reasons to be upset with McCain. But based on their voting records, there is a greater possibility that McCain nominees would be more conservative.

"stated positions"

Look at their positions closer. Clinton and McCain are not even close on national defense, abortion, supreme court justices, and spending. National defense alone qualifies McCain over Clinton.

That’s just ridiculous. You are reading it totally out of context. She wasn’t criticizing him for not nominating a woman; she was reporting what had happened, which was exactly that.

Roberts was initially nominated to replace Sandra Day O’Connor, and there was a feeling that Bush had to nominate a woman for the “woman” slot. She was mocking the whole idea.

And later, Ann was one of the chief critics of the Miers nomination.

This is, perhaps, the stupidest thing to ever to leave her ever-open mouth. Ann has finally slid into complete idiocy.

Hillary Clinton? Stronger on the War on Terror? What a laughable, disgusting joke.

“Clinton and McCain are not even close on national defense, abortion, supreme court justices, and spending.”

And what kills me is that Romney is being pimped as our savior. Romney will tell us what we want to hear and give us socialist medicine, higher fees, gay marriage, timetables for our retreat, and taxpayer funded abortions.

“Sorry, you are a RINO.”

If accepting reality and dealing with it in a non-hysterical fashion makes me a RINO, then I guess I am a RINO. I hope Mitt wins on Tuesday, but if he doesn’t, I will vote for McCain in November.

Our touch screen voting machines allow a write in here in Mississippi. No problem... we also get to see a paper backup of our vote. Can you imagine?

Honestly, I think native-born Americans’ apathy is the greatest threat.

With regard to what they are apathetic to, the choices are numerous; immigration, Al Queda, taxation (so long as they aren’t the ones paying), social issues, et al.

Let’s face it, the next presidency is going to be a mess. If you agree with that, do you want it to be a Democrat mess or a Republican mess? At least the former gives Republicans a chance for 2012.
