Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

“Winner: Romney
Place: Paul
Show: Huckabee
Jackass: McCain”
hahahahah Bravo!
I would love for him to drop out...he is just trying to take votes away from Romney now...Romney really shined tonight.
And I was going to say...
McCain is a mean detestable arrogant mean name dropping mean old nasty mean ill tempered mean little junkyard dog of a mean man.
You almost had it right. LOL
I don't understand this whole argument regarding Romney's spending money. He is,in essence, running against an incumbant who has been in office forever. McCain has the name recognition, etc.; the only way Romney can compete is to spend money.
Woman switched from McCain to Huckabee. Ouch. Didn’t like the McCain/Romney sparring.
The more the merrier!
Uh....no! John McCain suffered more in the service of his country than 99% of any military members ever have BUT that does not give him absolution. He has been intellectually dishonest on a variety of issues, particuarly immigration, and needs to be held to account. He has a mean, condescending demeanor while he insults and should be taken to task. But McCain should not get some "don't hit me hard" rule because he served and was a POW.
Where does Luntz get these “voters”??
All of these candidates are flawed. The question of whom to support depends on the alternatives. There is no doubt in my mind Romney is the lesser of evils compared to the other candidates running and would make a strong smart President. If you think Mitt Romney bested McCain wait until he mops the floor with Hillary.
McCain and Shrillary are co-conspirators, not political foes.
Wow, Luntz needs a tan and a new rug.
McCain graduated 5th from the bottom of his class at Annapolis.
Nancy Reagan
What Kennedy is that next to her?
Amen to that. McCain has had every paycheck signed by Uncle Same since he started working (except for those few months he worked for his father in law prior to running for office). He has contempt for those who work to pay the taxes that funded his checks.
He was particularly inept on that point, like we’ll be rescued by a partnership between big government and GE. That’s the Synfuels idea. It works so well and so many make so much subsidizing the problem instead of solving it.
John Cleese is there - he’s on Fox now.
Not really sure. But we know he recycles them.
You got to be kidding.
I agree. I only lament that she won’t be with us forever.
I wish President Reagan could have been a part of the game a lot longer than he was out of office.
