Great News to Report

OK folks, as of 1730 hours yesterday, Carhartt Inc, the worlds leading maker of durable outdoor and work clothing has generously donated...ready for this???

750 pairs of ECWCS (Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System) thermal underwear and (this is really good),

5,000, yes thats five THOUSAND pairs of winter wool socks to the 2-503ABN Infantry Regimen 173DABN Brigade (Sep).

So I'd like to ask that everyone go out and buy something with the Carhartt label. It doesn't have to be much; it's not a donation, it's a personal purchase for you, or your husband, or son, or wife, or whomever. I just want to show Carhartt how much we appreciate this very generous offer.

If you'd like to help Soldiers Angels at the same time, you can click this link and go to BassProShops and a portion of the sale goes to Soldiers Angels.

The program has a bit of a “flaw” in it. You are required to fill in an alternate person/address OR mark to abandon OR mark to be charged postage if the package is returned. NOrmally when filling out manually we mark to forward to the Chaplain if the specific person has moved to a different firebase, etc. The post office SAYS this will be fixed in April WHEN...............the NEW, LARGER flat rate box becomes available. Not only is the box going to be bigger but IF shipping to APO or FPO the postage rate will be 20% less than if shipping anywhere else. FINALLY - while not a huge postage savings to military addresses the post office is begining to “get it.”

I see. I wasn’t aware of the flaw because I have always filled them out by hand. I didn’t know you could have them forwarded to the Chaplain either. And that IS good news that there is going to be a flat rate box that is bigger and cheaper!

Thanks for posting this Concrete Bob. And thanks to all of you who have emailed Carhartt. When we asked them for a donation we asked BIG because the need is big. They not only met our request but exceeded it. Definitely big hearts.

Combined with what we have already sent, thanks in no small part to the generosity of many FReepers, this will be enough to equip every trooper in an Forward Observation Post or Fire Base.
Everybody gets a set.

link for fuel stick and warmers

http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/campmor/search/main.jsp?command=text&ip_text=solid+fuel+sticks+ℑ.x=6ℑ.y=5

I told my grandson he should hang one on his chest inside jacket to help keep the body core warm - which might cut down on blood being drawn from fingers and toes - ans then one in each pocket for hands = when he’s outside the wire - he can’t be moving around to keep warm - for danger of being detected...so it’s doubly hard to keep from getting frostbite - or freezing =

THANK YOU re your other post and the Carhartt thermals -
I feel so helpless -

Funding issue —

I can still see the bumper stickers from back in the day.....

“What if the schools got the funding thet deserve and the Army had to hold bake sales?”

Oh well, my dad did basic at Casper WY in WWII and used a wooden rifle as there were only WWI 03A3 for the rifle range. He shipped to the Pacific TO without a weapon - he was told he would get one ‘from a casulty, and there were lots of those”.

Looks like we just about there again. May the good Lord save this NAtin if the Dims take complete control.....

For them what don’t remember - clean/warm/extra socks are REAL nice to have...no matter where you are.

Just don't try to start a thread about them when you get them.

It’s the America Supports You flat rate box in case you want to order them. I don’t think you will be able to order them on line or get them at the PO until early to mid March 2008.

This is superduper!! Since my husband and my son work outside, they wear Carhartt clothes every winter.
