This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.
Yea, I am not sure about this call. I guess Hunter thinks he is the most Conservative out of the rest that are LEFT. He may be right, but I am not sure.
I have a problem with the fair tax because it is a safe haven for Huckabee to hide behind. It is unlikely to pass and rightly so without a Constitutional Amendment to abolish the income tax which is an unsurmontable hurdle taking a period of time outlasting the next Presidents two terms. Without it I am against it because we WILL end up paying both (as a matter of fairness to the poor). Therefore Huckabee’s refusal to discuss his tax plan in the event his Fair Tax doesn’t pass or at least until the Constitutional Amendment is ratified is tantamount to not being willing to pursue the reduction of taxes and making permanent the Bush tax cuts...........sc
