This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.
What, no school today?
Better on stuff isn't what this is about.
It's about who's the best candidate and it ain't Huckabee. He's half pro-life and that's not good enough for those of us who know he'd let the next Terri die.
I care about the Terri Schievo case as much as you do but are you sure about the information you are giving there. Because Huckabee has a much better record on right to life issues than Romney does that is the reason that I would tend to support her. So, I would be surprised if Huckabee didn’t support Terri Schievo.
Mitt likes their dad but I don’t think he’s fond of the Bush descendants. Mitt needs a running mate who isn’t hungry for attention. IMO, voters are sick of the Bushes in office, not as regular people. I think voters are sick of the Clinton’s too but dumb democrats think Hilary is a genius. She’s a genius in a Leninist kind of way.
Here is the link to an interview where Huckabee expanded on his comments from the debate and while he started out a little ambivalent about Constitutionality of Congress stepping in ultimately said that Congress had done the right thing when they intervened to try and save Terri Schievo.

Do you have any guesses who he might pick for VP if he gets the nomination?
Thanks, Hunter! Great choice over Flip Romney, Abortiani, and McKennedy.
So much for Hunter being a “true conservative”. At this point, I might as well vote Democrat, that’s what I’ll be getting anyway.
Also, here is a question about Schievo from the the Value Voters debate.
Q: My name is Bobby Schindler, and I’m with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation. My beloved sister Terri Schiavo was starved & dehydrated to death, in the land of abundance. The world watched because she was disabled & unable to speak for herself. Would you support legislation that would protect the cognitively disabled & vulnerable people from having their food & water taken away?
HUCKABEE:Yes.
TANCREDO:Yes.
COX:Yes.
BROWNBACK: Yes.
PAUL: No.
HUNTER: Yes.
KEYES:Yes.

So, at the end of the day he fudged on his position at the one original GOP debate and that wasn’t good but he has solidly taken the pro-life position on many later ocasions.
Did you watch the first or second GOP debate? The Terri question was asked and Huckabee said to the effect of “not his job”. Mitt met with Terri’s brother unlike the rest of the field. Haleigh Poutre is alive instead of body parts thanks to Mitt. Huckabee would not save the next Terri. He’s half pro-life and I don’t care for him and his one liners. We need a president with an ocean liner full of talent, not with one liners.
Yeah, I did I believe his answer was that he saw how the state should have gotten involved since she was their citizen but was unsure whether congress had a role. After he was pressed on the issue later he ended up saying that Congress did the right thing by getting involved in the interview that posted the link to you from.
Reminds me of when Bush came out and said there was no WMD.
One word. Betrayal.
My concern with Romney is that it wasn’t very many years ago that he was running as a pro-choice candidate and even now I don’t think that he opposes embryonic stem cell research.
Fred is done. And, if rumor is correct, Fred is going to endorse McKennedy.
Change for the good is welcome change.
I don't trust Huckabee at all. At first, I liked him but this isn't a popularity contest. I want the smartest person in the white house while we have so many major problems. Mitt's the smartest one and I don't think he'll abandon people who support him unlike Bush 43 did.
Fair enough - thats certainly a very reasonable position to take.
The St. Pete Times (liberals) like Huckabee and McCain. They’re going to be at the gop debate tonight on msnbc. I wonder how tough the questioning will go.
Thank for the encouragement. No worries, I have a stout heart and a stiff upper lip. :-)
There is only one true social conservative left and he was just endorsed by Hunter. Huckabee!
