Just broke on Fox - details to come.
Sorry, I got interrupted before. But my point was, I could have died many times. It’s amazing sometimes that many of us survive youth. There was a dark picture book a while back, I can’t remember the name or the author, but it was an alphabetical list, with illustrations, of children who had misadventures and wound up dead. It’s like, you don’t think you can ever die, and then all of a sudden, you’re dead, or dying. I actually feel bad for the guy, for the family.
Unfortunately they already wrapped up filming on the new Batman movie. I was hoping this meant we would get a better Joker.
my guess is they will release his part as the joker anyway. I hope they do.
I think Heath Ledger was a very talented actor (we just watched A Knight's Tale again tonight) and it's a shame his little girl will grow up without her daddy. Beyond that, I don't care if they were gay cowboys, sheep herders, or goat wranglers.
I loved him in 10 Things I Hate about You. The news about his battle with heroine addiction is not surprising. In his post break up with Michelle Williams, his physical appearance drastically decline. Many who were around him said he smelled bad. Heath even said, ‘Dying doesn’t scare me because I’ll live on in her (his daughter Matilda). Heath definitely marched to the beat of his own drum. Recent pictures include him in rainbow striped leg warmers, green shoes with red framed sunglasses, and even rumors of a fling with Lindsay Lohan.
Great actors have played gay before. Who can forget William Hurt playing a flaming transvestite in Kiss of the Spider Woman having a sex scene with Raul Julia. But that was a great movie. For whatever reason, Brokeback Mountain became some kind of manifesto for homosexual deconstructionism, and many of us found it offensive.
Really, it’s too bad he didn’t live long enough to overcome the typecasting. Billy Crystal played such a convincing gay man in Soap lo these many years ago and it took a very long time for me to see him as anything else, but eventually I did.
It was finished.
Yes, alcohol plus sleeping pills or alcohol plus barbituates can be deadly combos without anyone swallowing a whole bottle of pills. Other drug interactions can also be wild and dangerous. Different case: I have a friend who maybe 20 years ago was on one of the earlier generation MAOI (??) anti-depressants, and had an extreme hyper-tensive reaction by simply taking an over-the-counter cold medicine (apparently there are certain ones you must avoid when on certain anti-depressants??). It didn’t prove fatal, most fortunately, but it was quite a huge scare, a middle-of-the-night emergency room visit, and a bad time for all for a couple of days.
Don’t know what happened in this case, but if it was a mix of alcohol or some other drug with sleeping pills it might not have required any huge quantities to produce this tragic result.
a friend of mine has a brother who is a young actor in LA and I remember him telling me that he knew him and how (at the time)he was a quirky guy living out of his car
PSST! I don’t think William Hurt was acting. He has been rumored to have had a fling with Matt LeBlanc while filming Lost in Space. And yes, most in Hollywood believe Joey is gay.
man I thought I knew all the gossip! that’s a new one
The gossip should be from now on, ‘_______ is rumored to be straight.’ LOL.
yep!
What a waste. I’ve always liked him as an actor since “10 Things I Hate About You” and especially “The Patriot”. Whatever the cause of his death is, I think it’s a shame and I feel bad for his daughter, who will not be able to grow up with her father.
well this story kinda put a damper on my evening.
I hate to hear of people losing their life because they give in to some temptation (it boggles my mind how drugs could tempt anyone) to dabble in drugs.
Thanks, that's my response as well.
He shouldn’t get any credit for playing that sick role.
Who the hell are you? You are an idiot and should not get any credit here on FR. It works both ways. I never saw the movie but the guy is dead and you have to be negative. So I suppose when every person who dies and played a gay character on TV or movie...which is fiction you will say the same nasty comments?
I think that is why they call it "acting." You see, when a person is an "actor" they play roles, they are not themselves.
For example, actors in their roles sometimes kill people, that does not make the actor a bad person, simply because the chararter they play is a murderer.
And Ledger, simply because he played a gay in a movie does not mean that he was gay or a bad person.
