You may not see it yet, but ROMNEY is the NEW REAGAN.

That's as obscene a suggestion I've seen from Team Romney in, oh, 30 minutes or so.

Your idea of having fun and mine aren’t exactly the same.

Romney has his bad points. On the plus side, he has one thing that I haven’t seen from any of the other candidates: optimism.

Do not underestimate that factor. It was a large part of Reagan’s success.

I think after FL, Rudy finishes third and it’s a two man race between McCain & Romney. Whether or not the other candidates realize it.

Hopefully a lot of the “I’m voting third party” or “I’m staying home” is just frustration talk.

I think given sometime to lick their wounds and recharge themselves most Fred supporters will be ready to support the most conservative of the other candidates.

And yes, I think for most of them it will be Romney.

“I will come back to the party ONLY if the Baker “Big Tent” is folded up and thrown away, and the party returns to Reagan Republicanism.”

I feel like a tape stuck in a loop...

The only way you get the change you want is to become INVOLVED, and starting at the local level.

You build from the BOTTOM UP, not the top down.

Hannity is that you?
Nope, but I do like Sean and I think Sean has stood up for my beliefs. I too keep FNC on my t.v. all day. I will fight, tooth and nail to keep Hillary from going back into the white house. I dispise her with everything in me and she can not win the race!!!!

Perhaps you would believe Fred's own words...or maybe not.

Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States.

At this point, I’d just as soon vote for Paul as anyone else. At least we’d have ‘change’ and it would be fun to watch.

I think the States that had early Primaries, and allowed Independents to vote for a Republican nominee are to blame for this.

Concur. My state, Virginia, is open-primary, though a late one, but that needs to change before 2012. I'm going to do my part by actually registering as a Republican so I can at least have some input on that. If everybody on here, especially those in early-primary states, will do the same, I think we'll have a better choice next time.

EXCELLENT post! We lack leadership. Even Fox news let’s the socialists drive the agenda and even get away with the lexicon!

Like pro-war vs. anti-war...

Personally, I use ‘anti-Liberation of Iraq’ not ‘anti-war’. EVERYONE is anti-war! Pro-war implies people against pulling out the troops (even now, thus undermining their accomplishments and making all their sacrifices in vain) are somehow bloodthirsty.

I’d even prefer ‘pro-terrorism’ over ‘anti-war’ in fact!

“I get a chuckle reading some of these posts. You can pretty much separate them between the personality types that are emotional (we are out of here, damn the consequences!!!) and the logical calculating strategic type (move on to the next choice). Politics is a funny thing and hopefully eventually cooler heads will prevail.”

Those of us on the pragmatic/calculating side, let’s give the emotive/committed ones some time of mourning. It takes some folks time to sort out the next step.

Now that I’m in the Mitt Romney camp, I will surely be needing the same if he loses to McCain on Feb 5th.

McCain as nominee = focus on other things, let the RINOs help him win.

I’m telling anyone that will listen - RINO’s are bad - but socialism is worse. Just remember that.

True.

However, the Republicans left in Congress will be man enough (or woman enough) to oppose Hillary or Obama. They will cave and vote for any liberal policies for a RINO. (examples, amnesty and massive spending with a Republican-controlled House and Senate under Bush). We might be better off with a fight that accomplishes nothing than a lemming parade.

Thanks, Fred.....you gave it a good ride.

You just didn't have the wherewithal to fight the media blackout through all the primaries and into the big states like Florida, Texas and California.....and you can't fight the lying, vicious media with $50 contributions, heartfelt as they are.

I'll now support Mitt Romney with all my heart and soul, although with half my brain tied behind my back because he's not quite the conservative my brain mandates.

We just cannot allow the socialists, leftists, radicals, traitors, commies and scumbags to take control next November. It's unthinkable.

Hurt feelings, bruised egos, false pride, big letdowns, tears and whining and destructive independence CANNOT get between us and victory in the general election.

Let's get on with the show and not weep for lost innocence. This is big league, hardball politics and we have to be strong and clever and just as hard. The bitter, the disillusioned, the angry, the betrayal-feelers.......we all must pull together or get out of the way.

I feel just as miserable as any one here, but healing will take place if we all start looking forward to victory in November, not back to this black day.

Romney is my final choice. It was Hunter, then Thompson, and then Romney.

I agree Romney is easily the smartest guy remaining in the race, of either party, and the most competent. His rhetoric is as conservative as anyone’s, but he has never been more than #3 for me, because I assume that most of his conservative principles were negotiable. He strikes me as decent as the day is long, but a manager, not a conservative theoretician. Good person, but no Duncan Hunter.

But his competitors don’t have any conservative principles to negotiate, so he is all there is. God bless him, and God be with us.

I’m a Fred supporters, but the amount of “I’m taking my toys and going home” coming from some Fred supporters are getting too much
>>

No, give them time.

This is a hard thing for people. I watched it with Keyes and Bauer and Forbes and their people here who HATED the phrase “compassionate conservative”. They thought it was a vile corruption of principle.

America will be fine, people. America works about 3 extra weeks per year vs Europe. America’s Midwest can feed the entire planet. America will never have a famine.

The Democrats control Congress. There was not going to be any sort of advancement of the Conservative Agenda even if the whole GOP had rallied to Thompson and he’d won. The Democrats have the majority. That’s reality.

I urge folks to consider the value of brilliance in slowing the agenda of a Congressional majority that will grow in November. Romney’s intellect is the only weapon available against that.
