Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

We fought them cause they were kidnapping and killing American persons etc..What do you think Paul would do ? He is the only candidate to mention Letters of Marque and Reprisal for Al Quaeda etc... as to Paul’s “terrorist” comments he often is referring to viewpoints expressed by the former CIA AL Quaeda Expert, Mihael Scheurer, who wrote “Imperial Hubris” and “In The Eyes of Our Enemy”...which are then demogouged to no end by lightweights(IMO) like Sean Hannity...

The other poster is engaging in abusive behavior. I have no desire to play along. I am merely tell him he should consider himself free to proceed without me.

Oops his name should read Michael Scheurer ..Sean I know you read this site often...get a pair and “interview” Michael Scheuer but it’s better theater to blather on about Paul’s views etc.

WHAT 'abusive behavior'?

Have I called *you* a 'troll' at any time on FR?

A simple yes or no will do.

The fact is, you made statements that I challenged. You apparently didn't like that, perhaps because you were unable to substantiate and support the statement(s) you made.

Challenging someone's statements is not 'abusive', and you should know that.

Not that you asked, but I honestly don’t
know how anyone could actually stand to
think about listening to that whining
voice and negativity every day for 4 years.

I think that any country with a culture that is hostile to the U.S. should be cut off,

Yes! I agree.

Hopelessness in the face of prosperity breeds dependency, crime, and neglect.

Exactly. And the Democrats are determined to keep people hopeless with their class warfare rhetoric.

I don't think it's Mexico's business to take care of their citizens except ensure their freedom, keep them safe from crime and get out of their way.

I wish OUR government would do that!

You are correct, I was wrong to say Mexico should "take care" of its citizens, I just meant they should quit criticizing America and take care of their own problems.

My reasons for being against both McCain and Huckabee are that not only are they NOT conservatives, they are both very liberal. In regards to illegals, they weren't interested in enforcing the law. I am an ex police officer, and to see the government pick and choose which laws they are going to enforce, totally exasperates me.

We will fix these problems, we must.

I pray that you are correct.

I’m committed to Ron Paul. There are no other conservatives in the race...

Ron Paul is not a conservative. Ron Paul is a libertarian.

Ron Paul is a Republican who leans libertarian, and has been Republican for a great many years.

The ones who are running against him have the letter “R” after their names, but they are anything but conservative or Republican.

Not sure if this was posted, and it’s sure
not what we envisioned his role would be ..
but we never know what will play out in the
coming days.

It’s not the end of Fred Thompson

I spoke with one of Fred’s advisors a little while ago. We should note that Fred Thompson has not and will not be endorsing any of the other candidates. My understanding is that with no strong clearly conservative person in the race, he saw no point in endorsing.

But, this is not the end of Thompson. I’m told we’ll be hearing much more from him in a few days. His mother is recovering from an illness and he is with her. But, I suspect he’ll be engaging in forums around the country to talk about conservatism and make sure we hold the other candidates to some consistency — no more talking populist in Michigan, Mitt Romney.

Likewise, it would not surprise me in the least to start seeing Fred showing up and engaging in Republican primaries where a corrupt Republican who has lost his way might find Fred supporting an opponent in the primary.

The race for the Presidency is over for Thompson, but the fight for the party might just be beginning for him.

~~~~
Has there been any news about his Mom’s condition today?
Prayers for Fred and his family.
Much better to hear the cheerful Bush talk about why we need to fight wars because of “UN Resolutions,” about fighting terrorists except when we give them guns and money like we do with the Palestinians, cheerfully call us sexist for not supporting Harriet Miers, and tell us with a smile on our face about how we’re negative naybobs for demanding that ugly fence with mexico. We’re also vigilantes and racists, ya know.
I guess if you’d rather have some prettyboy smooth talker who will screw you with a smile in the white house than one who will tell you the truth, vote for Hillary. You can have Bill back in the white house.
“Ron Paul is not a conservative. Ron Paul is a libertarian.”
AHEM.
“If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.”
-Ronald Wilson Reagan, Reason magazine. 1975
However, as I’ve said, IF he in the next few weeks announces Santorum, Delay, Hunter, or Thompson as his running mate, then I’ll support him.
I will vote for whatever ticket has Thompson or Hunter or Santorum on it. I may not have any desire to vote for McCain or Romney or Huckabee for president, but I think I might be willing to cast a vote for Thompson or Hunter for Vice President.
At this point, however, my checkbook is closed for this election cycle.
If I were a drinking man, I'd go toss down a few brewskies and sulk. But, since I'm not a imbiber, I guess I'll have to make due with chocolate chip cookies and milk. I think I'll go watch the American Idol tryouts and see if maybe someone else had a worse day than me.
God is in control. But it looks like we're in for a bumpy ride.
Pray for mercy.
Prepare for judgment.
Neeners.
While I think it stinks that FDT is pulling out, it leaves me asking a question that I haven’t heard anyone asking:
Since a lot of Freepers and other conservatives have been bemoaning the lack of conservative presidential candidates, who out there SHOULD be running for POTUS?
Why don’t we draft THAT person? Put $$$$ behind THAT person?
If we want a conservative to run, well, let’s find one, go get them and not take “no” for an answer.
Just a thought........
Duncan Hunter. Problem is he’s not got any traction and it’s late in the game!
