I'd like to optimistic, but I am not.

The "Stupid Party" is foisting RINOs and liberal Republicans before us.

Get used to saying "President Clinton" again.

I too like Fred and really loved Hunter and believed he was the only true conservative in the race.
But the populace has become vain and a third party conservative, not just another rino, is necessary for conservatives to have a representative in government.

It is either Thompson for me or I will vote “uncommitted” and we will fight at the Convention. I will no longer roll over for the machine or the rinos that think that they run it. The Conservative base is the support for the party... without a base, the house will fall down at the first sign of wind.

Myself and my wife WILL continue to support FRED all the way. We WILL NOT allow ourselves to be defeatist as the defeatism is perpetrated in the form of Leftist/Democrat propaganda by the Leftist bias of the Leftist controlled MSM.

It’s a one sided MSM that we are up against, therefore we must remain all the more true to our own convictions.

"What happened to Thompson? One word: Huckabee," said Clemson University political science professor Dave Woodard. "He stole all his (Thompson's) votes. As Huckabee began to rise, he got more money, more mailings, and the values voters who were going to Fred switched allegiances to Huckabee."
I'm sorry to say it, but what does that show about the intelligence of the "values voters"? It's not very flattering, that's for sure.

In one short span of a few months they have greatly legitimized the media stereotype of conservative Christians as witless ignorant boobs.

I'm sorry, if you look at Mike Huckabee and think that he would be good for America, good for conservatives, good for the fight against socialism and all the evils of socialism then, I'm sorry, you are a witless ignorant boob.

Great going, people. You've set the cause of conservatism back a couple of decades.

I like Fred and, of all the candidates, I think he would make the best President. But it's beginning to be the time when we need to consider electability. The MSM has apparently been successful in shutting down his candidacy.

As distasteful as some of the other GOP candidates are, they are far superior to anything the dims have. I cannot abide by the thought of four years of Hildebeast or Osama Obama, and I'm not sure the Country would survive.

All warfare is based on deception.

Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

This is probably as good a thread as any (since there are a lot of people on this thread who know a lot about Fred) to ask the question that is haunting my thoughts....

First let me make it clear, I have not yet decided who to vote for, I can’t seem to find a candidate I can truly believe in. But as super Tuesday draws near day by day, I am going to have to zero in on the candidate who comes the closest to fitting my criteria, I guess.

I firmly believe that enacting the Fair Tax system would go further in restoring the power that the Federal Government has taken from us, back to the people where it belongs, than any other means we can come up with short of a civil war. Huck is pushing the Fair Tax, but he is just not conservative enough otherwise for me. My question is.... do any of you know why Fred won’t support the Fair Tax?

Sorry, I like Fred...but he isn't going to get my vote in the primary. I've moved to Romney camp. Now, if Fred gets somehow nominated, I'll be pleased. But I'm more convinced Mitt wants the job, is prepared to lead, and has the experience to lead.

I haven't seen that with Fred. And I say that as someone who sent Fred some of my hard earned $$ right after he announced.

By and large, the Republican Party has lost it’s conservative roots. After the successes of Bill Clinton, the GOP leaders panicked and began doing the same thing Clinton did, triangulation.

They traded in their principles:

Strong Defense
Lower Taxes
SMALLER GOVERNMENT
Right To Life - No Abortion
Secure Borders
Limited Government Involvment
Right To Keep and Bear Arms
etc.....

For Populism and poll driven ideology.

What we have now are “conservatives” who favor:

Abortion rights
Bigger Government
2nd amendment limitations
Government funded health care
Illegal immigration
etc....

Conservatives lost their party.

"...As soon as Thompson entered the race, analysts began wondering aloud why he got in, saying that he didn't show the fire in the belly that's necessary to run successfully for president. The image of Thompson as a laid-back slowpoke became fodder for late-night television comedians.

That goes a long way toward explaining why his numbers dropped after he announced. The media started denigrating him as soon as he got into the race, and their negativity became the 'conventional wisdom'. It didn't matter that he's been campaigning steadily. Some folks got it into their minds that he didn't want it, because that's what the news anchor told them, so they decided to vote for someone else. Even some conservatives bought that 'I don't want to be President' lie, because they didn't take the time to actually listen to what Fred said, they took the word of the 'nattering nabobs of negativity' as Ollie North calls the pundits.

I don’t believe in any fairy tale scenarios, but Fred seemed to be hitting his stride last week and I’m glad he’s staying in. He’ll continue to get money and support from me.

The last of the positive things to say about Fred Thompson just before he truly gets out of the Presidential race. It’s going to happen, and his mother is also seriously ill. The MSM will just intensify their negativism towards Thompson if he does choose to keep on running for the Presidency while his mother continues to be extremely ill. This is truly a lose-lose situation for Fred Thompson!
