An e-mail:
I see that some people (Adler, Geraghty) are calling for Fred to stay in the race. The practical consequence of Thompson's presence so far has been to hand South Carolina to McCain. It's seems unlikely that this dynamic will change in other southern states. All Thompson is managing to do is to split the conservative vote and clear the way for McCain.
Adler also makes the improbable claim that Romney has been revealed as a very weak candidate, even though the information is right there on The Corner that Romney has garnered more votes so far than anyone else in the race.
Lastly, Romney gets slammed for spending money. He is the only candidate running who is attempting to win or place in every state. Giuliani, who also has spent quite a lot, has abandoned most of the country. Fred made a minimal effort outside SC. I half expect a plea for campaign finance reform to follow some of these complaints that Romney is spending too much money. It's very strange.
UPDATE: Another:
Fred is "splitting" the conservative vote with Huckabee. Don't ask me why a conservative would vote for Huckabee, but without Fred, Huckabee would have won S.C. big. If all of Fred's votes had gone to Romney, he still would have been third. Fred should stay in. I'd rather see a brokered convention than Huckabee or McCain as the nominee before then.
” It is possible that Huckabee is a good, God fearing man, but, he ain’t the man we need as president. Truly, may the best man win.”
The best man won’t win if he drops out of the race prematurely.
“OK, thats two words.”
LOL.
Well, it’s only one phrase. Settle for that.
That was my point. McCain must be stopped. Romney tanking would guarantee McCain's nomination.
What is strange is, out of all these candidates, even after the failure of Republicans in South Caroline, Fred Thompson is STILL the only candidate that can unite the party.
Romeny is the next closest, but the Mormon issue and his Northereastern Pubbie credentials will not play well in the South and Midwest.
Although Fred’s position is weaker after South Carolina, we still have to ask ourselves: Are we allowing the Liberal Media, Progressive Pundits and Left Leading Pollsters to choose our candidate?
The answer is yes. It happened in South Carolina. Ignorance runs rampant among Republicans this year.
Fred's been kinda busy since last night, checking on his Mother who has pneumonia.
I'm amused at all those trying to give Fred the bum's rush. There have been a total of 6 primaries, several of which he's come in second or third. Maybe we ought to wait a few weeks to see how things shake out? Has Rudy won any primaries yet? Has he come in second or third? Why isn't anyone calling for him to get out of the race?
I am sure Fred needs funds to get ads out in Florida. The donations for the past two hours (9:00-11:00PM) was $620. Not bad considering the play-off game and the red truck donation link not on the home page of Freds site. We will know more tomorrow but Fred is still in this race and will do well in Florida following the debate Thursday! GO FRED!

I assumed you were challenging my forum name. If that’s the case, it’s an argument you can’t win because I will come down hard on you with thoughts that have never run through your brain.
I expect straight talk, if you want to go at it.
Doesn't appear Huckster fears God at all, what with the dirty push polling and lying flyers on windshields.
Those forces are always in play. It is up to the candidate to overcome that. A conservative must have the political ability to dominate the agenda, if he is to be successful.
I’m just waiting for the word...if he’s in, I’m in!
Hey FRed...hope your mama is doing well, my prayers are with you and yours...
I'd rather see a brokered convention than Huckabee or McCain or Romney as the nominee before then. I wonder why Kathryn Jean Lopez left the flip-flopping Massachusetts liberal off her list?
Oh I hope he stays. All the others are either RINO or CFRS like Bush. (That is, Christian First, Republican Second. Now Christians will say that’s the way it should be and I say, sure, in your personal life. But not with my tax money.)
If your faith empowers you to presume that you are my intellectual superior, based upon these posts, I have over estimated you. You know absolutely nothing about me, my faith, or my intellect. Your faith belongs in a mosque.
So far that does seem to be the case.
???
Do you believe that Christians are big government socialists just because the Huckster is?
Why doesn’t Romney concede and then Fred will be in Second place.
Do you have something to say about my forum name, or are you avoiding the subject?
That’s what started this, and believe me you will lose.
I told you I expect straight talk.
Some of them are.
