Romney is the only one left that can stop McCain and salvage the Republican Party. That’s a plain fact at this point.

Join the club. But, if Thompson does drop out I don’t have to worry about the election anymore. Won’t make much of a difference who wins.

The only candidate Fred has not attacked with an vigor is McCain. Seeings how their legislative records are almost identical and they are old friends, conventional wisdom has it he will endorse McCain.
If he REALLY wants to make an impact he will not do that -- I'd rather see him endorse nobody than McCain.

I don’t think he’ll be endorsing Huckabee anytime soon either. :-)

Yes I will and it won’t be for McQueeg.
To: claudiustg
Yep. It’s a two-way race between McCain and Romney now.

Hunter did not even break 2000 votes in both combined states.

If Fred bails, then I’ll have to jump on the Huckabee bandwagon. He is far from perfect, but at least he is a true social conservative and I can trust him on the judges he would appoint.

If Fred drops out.....there won’t be anything left of the Republican party. Not in this race anyway.
And I thought voting against Gore was hard...

As a Thompson supporter I wish I could make a statement as definitive as yours.
—Fred has too much integrity to endorse someone who is bad for conservatism.—
But by definition, in my opinion, of the contenders left there are none really good for conservatism. So if he was to endorse anyone, I could easily see FDT throwing his support behind McCain, someone he apparently has respect for. As much as I would hate to see it happen.

No, that would be incorrect. McCain has flip flopped consistently on the campaign trail. He now says he wants the Bush Tax cuts made permanent (and he voted against them TWICE). He wants to close Gitmo (Fred disagrees). Ideologically Fred is much closer to Mitt than Fred.
If he endorsed McKennedy then he lied to everyone.

Your vote for the Huckster will be wasted.
He has no chance in the general, the MSM and the Democrats are salivating at the chance to have at him if he is the nominee.
He is almost as bad as Rudy, but just a little bit better.

It’s not over till it’s over. And it’s not over yet.
There’s nothing set in stone. And being as I’m not one to give up with out a fight myself, I personally hope my candidate of choice (Fred Thompson) isn’t either. Because that’s what I’m looking for in a candidate. I’m looking for a fighter. Someone with a level head and stands his ground even when the chips seem do be down.
Someone who wont give up till the fat lady sings.
