Today is the day.
I’m a very serious Fredhead but a McCain/Thompson ticket would erode alot of the good I see in Thompson. I would lose a tremendous amount of respect for the man.
I would love to see this race come down to Mitt and Fred as the last two men standing. Then we would get a real and substantive debate on the issues, and may the best man win (and the other run as VP).
No. I can guarantee that neither man would work with each other. Thompson doesn't respect Huckabee. And Huckabee hates Thompson for his "attacks" on Huck's record and gaffes.
If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck. We can deal with Huck later.
Yup - another Freeper with real convictions! /sarcasm
The polls say that the guy you most identify with is losing so you don't want to be identified with a loser so you'll vote for who the polls say is winning so that you can be on the winning team no matter what. That shows real courage of your convictions - NOT.
Maybe if all of you that say you are FredHeads actually vote for him - Fred will win!
Same question to you. How does Huck get himself known and Thompson doesn’t? Is it thru the MSM or thru the churches, or what?
From a New Jersey conservative in a barren political landscape.
Please do the right thing today.
Fred Thompson 08.
From a New York Conservative in a barren political landscape: DITTO!!! :)
Fred Thompson '08!!!!
I’m not out of my “friggin’ mind”.
Nor do I think you are for keeping hope alive.
I’ve said elsewhere on this thread that I hope the weather delivers the “Fred Miracle”. But even you must realize it doesn’t seem likely. I’m simply looking at the lay of the land beyond SC. If Fred’s out, a Huck victory today bodes better for us than if McCain wins. Huck will be easier to pick off later.
Joining you in prayer!
This has got to be the nuttiest "logic" I have read all week.
Let me pose a question: Do you WANT Thompson gone next week?
If you were to vote in South Carolina (I'm glad you're not) wouldn't you rather deal with Huck NOW?
I'm going to leave this alone now, because I know I'll never figure it out.
You may be right. Hopefully Thompson will come in second. With McCain out Thompson can demolish Huck.
Never thought I’d say it, but I don’t think I could vote for Huckster - ever. Even if it increased the chances of a disastrous Dem victory. I have come to loathe him with every fiber in me. When his lying mug shows up on TV, I change the channel faster than if was the Beast herself.
Both. And push polling. Never underestimate 1 million phone calls telling lies and spreading half-truths. I'm waiting for January 31st when the candidates have to file their FEC reports for 2007. I'll be surveying Huck's to see what we can see.
When I see that photo my mind always adds the following audio.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE. A better Gomer couldn’t be found if you tried. He’sready for Hollywood.
I just turned into MSNBC and as usual they are pulling for Huck; however, they are really down playing his chances now. Talking about the weather and the Huck’s lack of an infrastructure in the state. Interesting. Perhaps I’m reading too much into the comments — considering it David the liar and Mika the idiot who are behind the “anchor” desk right now.
Just what could Conservatives expect to get from a McCain Administration? Based on McCain's record for the last 8 years, we could expect to get tough talk on foreign policy and spending with no real action on any issue.
Do people forget the Democrats trying to get McCain to flip partys in Jan 2006? Forget that Dems wanted McCain as their VP candidate in 2004?
How quickly the supposed Conservatives for McCain forget McCains political record. From Tax-cuts to the War to Judges McCains whole strategy has been to be as Liberal as possible and stay in the GOP.
Politically there is very little difference between Hillary and McCain. You get minor variations on this and that issue, like abortion, but over all McCain and Clinton share the same political philosophical outlook
McCain has done nothing for the Conservative movement in 8 years. While talking a good game on spending, he has done nothing. This is particularly galling considering all the issues CFR, Judges, Immigration Anti Torture Amendment-Gang of 14 etc etc etc issues which McCain was more then willing to throw his weight behind an issues to get legislation passed.
McCain has actively worked against the Conservatives on Social issues, on the WOT, on Iraq, on Gitmo, against Rummy, on Immigration and on Judges, on Global Warming etc etc etc etc etc. McCain has far more in common with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama then he does with any Conservative.
Funny how the Talking Heads miss this. Out of 49 Republican Senators McCain has been ranked 45th by the American Conservative Union for his voting record!
McCain would be the worse of both worlds. A mislabeled Conservative Administration actively advancing the Democrat Partys agenda while knifing Conservatives in the back daily. You could even count on a McCain Administration appointing Leftist Judges in order to avoid fighting with the Democrats in the US Senate.
Tough on Foreign Policy? You think Mr Close Gitmo and extend the same legal protections US Citizens have to the terrorists McCain is going to have a tough foreign policy? The father of the Baker Commission and the plan to surrender Iraq to Iran and Syria is "strong on Foreign Policy"? Not based on his recored. The wrost thing that a McCain Administration would do is it would fracture the few remaining GOP Congress critters into pro and anti McCain factions. McCain would be the worst of all world politically for the Conservatives.
At least with a Democrat Leftist Administration, as opposed to a McCain Leftist with a GOP Label Administration, the Democrats would get all the political fall out of their disastrous political decisions and the GOP would unite in fighting them. The worst of all possible worlds for Conservatives in 2008 would be McCain getting elected President.
Apparently, tens of thousands of SC voters are so misinformed that they think McPain is the one to “solve” the illegal immigrant mess.
>>Is it a winner take all or do they divide the delegates?
3 delegates for each winner of a congressional district, and the rest (29 delegates) go to the overall winner
Huck pledged to support a Human Life Amendment. Fred is pro-life, opposes Roe v. Wade, but he didn't suck up to Dobson and pledge to a HLA as the best way to go. Thus the single-issue, mind-numbed Dobson robots dutifully back Huck.
I'm very pro-life, but I also want a man who is conservative on other issues as well.
