If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck. We can deal with Huck later.

This has got to be the nuttiest "logic" I have read all week.

Let me pose a question: Do you WANT Thompson gone next week?

If you were to vote in South Carolina (I'm glad you're not) wouldn't you rather deal with Huck NOW?

I'm going to leave this alone now, because I know I'll never figure it out.

You're welcome to disagree with me. But that doesn't make me nutty.

No, I do NOT want Fred out next week. We'll see. And no, I do not think the best time to deal with Huck is now---I think SC is the place to stop McCain.

It seems very likely that tonight we'll see McCain victorious and Fred a distant 3rd. Maybe Fred will stay in. But the McCain train will have a new head of steam and that scares me to death. McCain is COUNTING ON a split conservative vote...his strategy is built on it. I'm sorry Fred is caught up in such a mess, but that's the way the cookie is crumbling.

I agree with an earlier poster who said McCain would be the worst possible nominee (well, except Huck, but I don't count him a serious possibility). McCain not only doesn't agree with many of my conservative principles. I think he's HOSTILE to them after his defeat in SC in 2000. Oh yeah, he's played kissy face this cycle. But given the opportunity he would stick his finger in our eye at every opportunity----and bask in the glow of media approval as he did it.

Thus, I would rather see Huck win in SC. I don't think McCain could survive the loss. It would be painful watching the media depict the GOP as a bunch of knuckle dragging throwbacks for supporting Huck. But we know we're not and Huck will be beaten later.

“If you were to vote in South Carolina (I’m glad you’re not) wouldn’t you rather deal with Huck NOW?”

The way to deal with Huckabee - the worst candidate in the race - is to take him out with the trash ASAP. Vote against him and slap his supporters in the face and say “Wake up you fool, he’s a Republican Jimmy Carter!”

I thought the idea should be to vote for the best person in the race. These other nutty strategies do explain why Huck and McCain are leading, I guess.
