Fred Thompson Gets Mad
By Joel Achenbach PROSPERITY, S.C. -- You rarely see Fred Thompson get too riled about anything, but steam was near about shooting from his ears today when he heard at a campaign stop that some of his supporters had received "push poll" calls from a group supporting Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

If the polling companies are seriously wanting to crank out legitimate polls, they really need to re-evaluate their formulas. Being 10 points off what the winner received, plus being 10 points off of who the winner would even be, tells me something is very wrong with the sampling formula.
Vote for Fred! They forgot to list Huckabee.

**I was there. It was more than a dozen hands raised, more like 30 from where I was sitting.**
At least with Fred, they tell the truth.
Unfortunately, that paint covers a lot of bad wood.
Not knowing the true condition of the man's heart and his relationship with God, I can't justifiably say he's not a Christian. I really can't be a judge, but I can be a fruit inspector. Based on how he's campaigning, I believe it can be safely said that Huckabee is as much a Christian as Lindsey Graham is a Republican.
There is a thread here on FR posted this morning that has a taped voice recording of a call but no video. It is quite tell and very pro Huckster.
Fred is an actor and a lawyer -
He needs to start acting like an angry Righteous Judge laying the Law down to the Jury-box.
IT is time for some good OLD TIME POLITIKIN’ DOWN SOUTH! Fred needs to show up at a Huckabee Event tomorrow with Camera’s in tow and confront him face to face — let that be the last thing everyone sees on thier evening news before they go to vote Saturday!
This was sort of reported on The News with Brian Williams.
I say sort of because it was a piece on how McCain was the victim of these calls. Right at the end the reporter mentions that other candidates are also on the receiving end of these calls, but she never mentions them by name and she never mentions that the calls are in support of Huckabee. The story was slanted to whip up a little sympathy for poor old John McCain.
I would love if he did that. I would pay to see that.
Wow, that’s a lot of people ... doesn’t sound promising.
I hope people start noticing Mike’s wolf fur poking through the wool.
I can understand attacking Fred on his actual voting record, but lies are unacceptable ... especially complicity from a candidate that espouses Christian values. That is offensive to me.
Yes, there was media. CBS was there as well as CNN, a few newspapers taking still shots, Washington Post, New York Post, lots of local media.
I know what you mean about not seeing this blasted across the MSM but I’m not so sure it would be even if it was a big event. The MSM is trying to stear clear of Fred, imo.
We just have to hope this works for him with the people who actually go out and vote. I believe he is planning on doing well here, in the top three and will go on to Super Tuesday.
Yes, that is the way the reporting has been going. Everybody is slaming poor ol’ Vet Vet McCain. But two days ago Fred was on Fox N Friends and complianed openly about these push polls and he said he had called Huckabee and complained! I guess that is as far as the media wanted it to go.
appearances...
He’s been doing three to four a day since he left New Hampshire the night of the debate. He’s been all over the state more than once, some places more than twice.
