On Disko Bay in western Greenland, where a number of prominent world leaders have visited in recent years to get a first-hand impression of climate change, temperatures have dropped so drastically that the water has frozen over for the first time in a decade. The ice is up to 50cm thick, said Henrik Matthiesen, an employee at Denmarks Meteorological Institute who has also sailed the Greenlandic coastline for the Royal Arctic Line. Weve had loads of northerly winds since Christmas which has made the area miserably cold. Matthiesen suggested the cold weather marked a return to the frigid temperatures common a decade ago.
Temperatures plunged to -25C earlier this month, clogging the bay with ice and making shipping impossible for small crafts, according to Anthon Frederiksen, the mayor of the town of Ilulissat, where Disko Bay is located. The mayor cautioned against thinking that the freezing temperature indicated that global warming claims were overblown. He noted that a nearby glacier had retracted more in the past two decades than in recorded history. But he noted We Greenlanders have acclimated to changing conditions over the past 1100 years, said Frederiksen. Temperatures change at regular intervals.
I wonder why her highness, Nancy Pelosi is not visiting now, so she can see what the weather in Greenland is like the other 9 months of the year?
The globalist warmers better hustle in their emissions schemes before the ice age starts.
If we are indeed in a global cooling stage, I see a new industry emerging, CARBON DEBITS!
Al Gore Bull warming, will you please make up our mind.
If someone does something about the penguins, that would really be headline news as penguins are only found in the Southern Hemisphere.
Um...don’t they call that WINTER?
What happened? Did the Goracle show up to give a speech on global warming?
Must.. Have.. Little.. Stick.. Figures.. Running.. Back.. And.. Forth
Friends, let's retire the trophy -- there can be no more willful ignorance of what you can see with your own eyes than this. Apparently it's still "global" warming even when you can see a headline example of the opposite phenomenon from where you're holding the press conference.
I don’t think you’re getting this. The fact of cooling in no way negates warming as a normative continuum external to empirical reality.
Crystal clear?
If he loses his current gig he can always hire himself out as icemaker for the NHL.
The final piece of the scam. When things are different in any way, it will be "climate change". If we see fewer extremes, it will be proof that we're making progress.
Yes, Greenland is "cool" in multiple ways. I also noticed this tidbit in the story:
But he noted We Greenlanders have acclimated to changing conditions over the past 1100 years, said Frederiksen.
I didn't even know there WERE Greenlanders. There's year-round residents there? News to me.
The irony was intentional but thanks for pointing it out.
This is what gets me about the whole "global warming" issue- every single time the media tries to make a story about high temperatures or drought part of global warming there are always previous records of the same or higher temps & drought conditions. I don't think man knows enough about climate to know what is going on- no one has been keeping track long enough to have even a baseline much less trends in weather patterns.
This morning the weather predicted heavy clouds for my area and no mention of snow- guess what? It was really snowing for about three hours earlier. I went to various weather sites and they had all missed the forcast- so no surprise they don't understand trends over time.
I remember when I was growing up the so called "consensus" was an impending ice age. I have no idea if the planet will get cooler or warmer-or exactly what will cause it to happen, but I don't think the "experts" do either.
All is right with the world.
While I can't speak for the folks in the south, or you Californians, here in the northern midwest, "Climate Change" is a constant.
