A Rush to judgment (Chuck Norris defends Governor Huckabee)
World Net Daily ^ | January 14, 2008 | Chuck Norris

Posted on 01/13/2008 10:55:13 PM PST by Kurt Evans

Our country is definitely in a cultural fight for its life. And what's at stake is the very heart and core of America ...

More than any other election in decades, this presidential one has erected a fighting ring in which conservatism will either maintain its title or be stripped of it by the appointment of leadership that will champion secular progressive change...

Even now our own GOP candidates are wrestling over who is truly conservative.

At the last round of debates, Fred Thompson, degraded by his own dilapidating campaign and threatened by Mike Huckabee's lead in the polls, tried to liberalize Mike ...

Even radio host Rush Limbaugh heckled Huckabee with a similar liberal lashing, accusing him of not being a conservative in the line of Ronald Reagan – an unfortunate "Rush to judgment"...

Any GOP candidate can be dissected to a point that he is railed for having liberal tendencies...

And while former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is also a friend, his record of consistently voting against tort reform, opposing the impeachment of Bill Clinton on perjury, supporting opponents of Reagan (Ford and Baker) in 1976 and 1980, and failing to support federal constitutional amendments that would ban abortion and gay marriage doesn't exactly make him "the only true conservative."

To be fair, even if Reagan himself were running today, he likely couldn't dodge liberal labeling, especially for his signing of the Immigration Control and Reform Act of 1986, which granted amnesty to aliens who resided in the U.S. since before 1982.

As I've already shown in my past WND columns, most liberal accusations against Mike Huckabee's record on immigration, taxes and crime are also biased, out-of-context rushes to judgment.

The complete record and platform [link in post #2] of this former Arkansas governor reveals a tried-and-true conservative.

God save this humble forum.

Yet more Clintonite sophistry. When lacking facts, or an argument, claim or insinuate moral superiority. You're like an amateur Paul Begala.

Sorry, Chuckie...

From an Email from Immigration Reform in Oklahoma Now IRON)

Mike Huckabee

NEA largest anti-home schooling group in USA endorses Huckabee! You Question?

Does not appear to have Theology degree as he claimed before CBN and CNN

He raised taxes 47% for roads, schools, children’s healthcare (Tax and Spend record) He advocated AR as a sanctuary state and protected Tyson, Wal-Mart during ICE raids

CFR President Richard Haas is his ‘foreign policy advisor.’ CFR policy replaces our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Huckabee responded: “Well, I have a number of people from whom I get policy. He is listed on the CFR webpage indicating he has CFR approval. His speech to Center for Strategic and Intl Studies mirrors Bush Policies.

He was keynote speaker and promoted ‘open door’ policy at LULAC convention June, 2005 stating ‘Arkansas needs to make the transition from a traditional Southern state to one that recognizes and cherishes diversity “in culture, in language and in population”….’and make sure our economy has the necessary work force.” LULAC thanked Huckabee for ‘standing with them’

His career has14 ethics complaints: one failure to declare all income; and questions of his integrity from management of campaign cash of a non-profit organization to subsidize his income; destruction of his Governor state computer files. He never cooperated with Ethics Commission but did attempt to shut down all investigations into his violation.

Recommended more than 1,000 prison pardons and commutations – most infamous Wayne DuMond raped/killed a Missouri woman after Huckabee supported his release.

Arkansas knows him as a thin skinned liberal, a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand who never ordered State police to stop illegal aliens.

He defied the U.S. and AR Constitution and pushed with Mexico for a $1.2 million Consulate Little Rock office resulting in criminal organizations like Acambaro Restaurant Chain to operate in AR with money laundering

He told AR Legislators ‘that to deny Illegals benefits would be un-christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life. He denounced all bills attempting to stop illegals from voting and getting benefits as “It would rile up those who are racist and bigots.” He said ‘large companies would not come to AR if ALL citizens were not allowed to vote.’ He advocated (2005) the tuition benefits, pell grants and scholarships, prenatal care, welfare for illegals by taxpayers and deceitfully lobbied for amnesty bill.

Campaigning he views the pathway to legality as taking ‘days’ not years. They go home, then come back to join the workforce (like McCain-Kennedy bill)He believes illegals should earn citizenship – not deportations.

.NOTE: A Liberal Politician translates that a Christian heart for the poor should mandate massive wealth redistribution, as if state-coerced transfers of other people’s money are acts of Christian compassion. There is nothing compassionate about sapping the human spirit to the detriment of all. His ‘compassion’ for the poor defines government programs as the solution to poverty rather than charitable organizations, churches, and free markets to help those in need. His webpage spouts different views NOW!

LOL! Somebody posted a thread about how words with "K" in them sound funny. "Mike Huckabee" has 2 Ks and "Mike Dukakis" has 3.

BTW I saw Susan Estridge, Dukakis’s old campaign manager on TV. She said the Dems she knows would be very happy if Huck is nominated.

“I’m not denigrating the messenger. I’m sure he’s a nice guy.” For the record, I’m not so sure. “From my experiences with state politicos, there are always rivalries and many get very personal. Anyone can create a list of grievances.” David Thompson’s suggestion that those accusations are based on some kind of firsthand knowledge is patently absurd. The letter is essentially a compendium of talking points and out-of-context quotations from every major smear campaign waged against Governor Huckabee in his entire political career.

That is what I was mentioning before. Much in this list is not only out of context, but exaggerated, or a fixation of blame on Huckabee for things staffers did, or some, mistakes of various kinds. But this kind of list caould be generated about Bush-43, Reagan, Bush-41, and the last governor of your own state.

The details will be different, but the theme is the same.

One plain, factual error on the list is that Huckabee's support among Arkansas Republicans is low. The polls have him something like 40-50% or more -- even polls from last year. You wouldn't see Gov. George Ryan of Illinois getting those kinds of poll numbers.

It is pretty common for the "jilted lover" kind of effect to cause someone to make a list and turn it into a little "jihad."

Bottom line is that Huckabee is experienced (including learning from mistakes, one would think) and much better than John McCain.

If Huckabee fizzles, his followers will be looking for another prolife evangelical to fill the void. Hunter fits that bill, no one else in the race is evangelical.

The GOP doesn’t get it. They need to let this faction find a home. The amount of invective aimed at evangelicals is surprising, but then everyone wants their votes.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

Prolife evangelicals will be very comfortable in Hunter’s camp, since he’s a prolife evangelical staunch conservative.

Huck’s record and statements have been posted on FR ad nauseum. It’s not just a vengeful grudge from a former state person as you are trying to paint. Again more dishonest Clintonian tactics from the Huck crowd.

And you continue to ignore them and play Clintonian word games to gloss over the presented facts. Wordsmithing to attempt to create reality is either dishonest or delusional.

Such as saying “But I didn’t say “vengeful.” No, you implied it. You said, post 35:

“From my experiences with state politicos, there are always rivalries and many get very personal. Anyone can create a list of grievances. I know I could tell some stories, too.”

And the act of lashing out and making those grievances public is vengeful, vindictive...pick your word. You are trying to lawyer yourself into a superior position by attempting to make technicalities look like differences - like Clinton arguing over the definition of ‘is’.

You are a microcosm of the Huckabee campaign, which practices the same type of politics as their Arkansas neighbors, the Clintons, who are about nothing but twisting words to create reality. And who have about the same credibility.

"As I've already shown in my past WND columns, most liberal accusations against Mike Huckabee's record on immigration, taxes and crime are also biased, out-of-context rushes to judgment. "

ok..and the liberal tendancies that you claim in Fred Thompson and Ronald Reagan couldn't also qualify as: "biased, out of context rushes to judgment."?

"Before Chuck Norris goes to bed he checks his closet for Fred Thompson."

I need to share that with my 20 yr old daughter! She was SO disappointed in Chuck Norris when he came out for Huckabee. She used to do those "Chuck Norris ..." lines all the time. She's a Thompson gal thru and thru and has been known to apply some of the old Norris lines to Thompson!

And keep stringing words into clever little arrangements, because political spin is a much easier world to live in than reality.
