Researchers have concluded in a yet-to-be published study of the economics of prostitution in Chicago that the women claim they were forced to service police officers, worked more on holidays and varied pricing based on race.
University of Chicago professor and "Freakonomics" author Steven D. Levitt and sociology professor Sudhir Venkatesh of Columbia University are the authors of the two-year study of street-level prostitution in Chicago's Roseland, Washington Park and Pullman neighborhoods. ...
Prostitutes taking part in the study — who were paid $150 a week — reported that about 3 percent of the sex acts they performed were "freebies" given to Chicago police officers to avoid arrest.
Police spokeswoman Monique Bond did not respond to requests for comment on the study's finding.
The study found full-time prostitutes made on average less than $20,000 a year....
The study also found white and Hispanic men were charged more, while blacks and repeat customers paid less....

The “best” part of this “study” is that we are being asked to believe prostitutes (criminals) at their word, especially concerning smearing those who arrest them.
The $20,000 a year stat also shows that the ho’s work about 4 hours per day. So work a normal shift or work overtime, there is some money to be made. Also, these are the lowest level hookers available. If a hooker was work off the street, you are looking at six figues easily.
Indeed. I don’t think prostitution is legal in Chicago. It’s scary to think the police are making “deals” with the prostitutes as opposed to arresting them. I wonder if they have made deals with drug dealers.

I know. They could make that or more working full time at a restraunt or as a desk clerk. Why destroy their dignity for such little money? I mean, it’s wrong regardless of the amount of profit brough it, but I have no clue why these women would do this for such a small amount of money. Consider all the STDs and risks they are taking. One of these men could kill them!
