Are you sure thats Fred’s position because I have seen him say in reference to Terri Schievo that decisions like that should be left up to the family and that he was upset about the political football that had been made out of the Terri Schievo case. Fred is very much a federalist and doesn’t even support a federal amendment to end abortion - so I would be shocked (happily shocked) if he changed his position on Terri Schievo.

I’m not a Fred hater. No reason to be. I think Romney’s brilliance trumps all other factors in the US of 2009 and makes him the best choice, but I don’t hate Fred.
I am not happy about him giving McCain a pass, but . . . overall I just remember debates generally change nothing. They are watched only by junkies at this point.
What is truly surprising is the presidential debates later in the year also mean nothing. Surprising in the context that they are still ballyhooed. The networks like to be the focus of everyone’s attention, for whatever reason. It’s all ego.

I listened to the debate on radio, and I agree that Fred did very well... I cheered his remarks on securing the borders. Fred also gave the Arkansas BS artist, “Huckster”, a good old southern boy ass whoopin.
BUT Ron Paul got it square on the barrel head in his responses to those points you laid out — especially about the US being Israel’s Sugar daddy. “Spot on” indeed. I agree he deserves the number 2 position: He called a spade a spade. I am tired of American foreign policy being dictated by the Israelis. They holler “jump” and our lapdog politicos answer “how high?” I’m tired of paying out taxpayer dollars to Jews and Arabs just so they’ll pretend to negotiate and play nice. Let them hash it out—or bash it out... but we have got to learn to stay out and mind our own business.
Mitt Romney needs to go away. I lived in Fagachusetts under his “governorship,” and Mitt Romney is a total con-job... an empty suit... a used car salesman... in other words ... a typical Assachusetts RINO. Homo marriage was just fine with him. When the MA legislature prevented the marriage referendum from coming to the floor for a vote — a complete violation of the State Constitution — Mr. “family values” did not lift a finger. When partial birth abortion was the issue — Mr. “pro-life” was dead silent. When gun control became registration-confiscation-incarceration — Mr. “I’m approved by the NRA” was AWOL. The jerk thinks a semi-auto non-selectable-fire rifle is an “assault weapon”! Screw Romney — He’s a total fraud and will be an absolute disaster for conservatism if the GOP is stupid enough to nominate him for POTUS.
John McCaniac: sounded like a double-talking sound-bite. This gasbag needs to retire. If we did get into it with Iran, then we would not need to send the troops—but only broadcast a few hours of McCaniac’s ho-hum drivel over the Iranian airwaves — the Republican guard would likely kill themselves rather than suffer the agony. McCaniac is ready to send our sons and daughters all over the globe to fight other nation’s battles, but he can’t secure his country’s borders and throw out the illegals. For crying out loud the guy has voted in favor of every amnesty plan ever conceived all the way up to our present time... NOW he is seeing the light? I was born at night, but not last night!

Well you know, I don’t agree with Rudy’s social positions or his personal life, that is why he is not my first choice. That being said, I know couples who have divorced, the children had virtually no contact with the father, but now, the couple is remarried and they are one big happy family. Go figure.
Personally, I like Rudy better than McCain or Huckabee.

Just got off the line with someone close to the Thompson campaign—and, more to the point, to Thompson himself. His reading of what took place tonight? Fred Thompson was riled.
“Nothing ever upset Fred Thompson more than the story [on the day of the Iowa caucuses] that he was considering dropping out to endorse McCain.” Thompson, my friend explained, has a kind of Reagan-like innocence about him. He can’t understand why anyone would circulate such a rumor—or how the rumor has remained alive. “He’s just not the sort of person who would drop out. He likes John McCain, always has. But endorse McCain? Are you kidding? He took a swipe at McCain tonight. Didn’t everybody see that? That’s not how you get to be somebody’s running mate. Anyway, the idea that Fred is the kind of person who would run for vice president is just absurd.”

Consistent on his views, yes. He’s rock solid.
But they’re talking about the hot and cold nature of his campaign-—not his issues.
Like it or not, that’s the line that’s out there and those voters are relying on it.
If Fred had campaigned all along like he did tonight....well, he didn’t.
Yes. On the first show of hands, there were two, maybe three, Fred supporters before the debate. Post-debate - all but a few of them said he won it.
Heard Rush say SC has an open primary. Does that mean you can crossover like in those states or how does that work?
I’ve been to Huckster’s website, and he is not tough on illegal immigration. He is so concerned that they will be away too long they won’t come back.
His major concern is it will take too long for them to get legally admitted to the U.S.
Plus, his history in dealing with this problem is no reason to think positively about what he really will do.

I guess you live your life by looking at the lying polls? The polls should just choose the next POTUS! Why the heck not?
