It most certainly does play into it, and always has. It is just another stupid stick that the naysayers try to beat the Christians with. Here's a few more "Identities" people vote by: Conservative, Reaganite, Republican, etc.
It is absurd to suggest that Christians should be the exception.
Question for you: Why do consider Huckabee — who took a $35,000 honorium from a company that destroys embryos — pro-life? As a pro-lifer, I consider this man — Huckabee —a Republican Jimmy Carter.
“The Christians” didn’t do any such thing.
A majority of evangelicals DIDN’T fall for the Huckster in Iowa.
So you think the candidates just get to order the shows to let them appear?
MCLEAN, Virginia, Nov. 29 /Standard Newswire/ -- Senator Fred Thompson released the following statement tonight regarding abortion:
"In tonight's debate we saw once again that on abortion, Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice and Mitt Romney is multiple choice. I believe abortion should only be allowed in the instances of rape, incest and the life of the mother and penalties should be assessed against the abortion doctor and not the woman."
I think a former pastor would make a great President because a pastor is a master of the art of pursausion, not compulsion.
Sad
I'm a PCA Presbyterian, I don't like Huckabee but I will support him, vote for him and I pray that he wins.
Thompson is conditionally pro-life and won't push a Constitutional amendment, enough said.
I don't want abortion to be a perpetual political issue, I want it to end.
Matthew 18:10
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
What our fellow conservatives don't get is that Huck's support is about stopping abortion. Even Reagan and H.W. Bush failed on SCOTUS nominations. No more failures please.
I've wondered how Huckabee has managed to get these spots. Is he invited because he is perceived as an entertaining personality by the shows' producers? Are many of them invited and he is the only one with the courage and self confidence to accept the invitation? Is he the only one who makes himself available by making that fact known to the producers. I really don't know how he is getting it done. I just think it benefits his campaign and speaks to his willingness and good judgement to do things that benefit his campaign.
I just finished watching him on Letterman. I was very surprised to learn that he is returning to New Hampshire. I thought he would head to S.C. from NY. But nope, he's gonna make that extra effort in New Hampshire on the day of the election. He sure works hard.
uh oh
If abortion is all you care about, Huckabee may be better...but if you want to worship God in freedom, Fred is a much better choice.
As my tag line says, Without limited government, there is no religious freedom!
Wow! Wish I'd written that! Absolutely true.
"What I accomplished as Governor proves that there is a lot more that a pro-life President can do than wait for a Supreme Court vacancy, and I will do everything I can to promote a pro-life agenda and pass pro-life legislation. If I'm saddled with a Democrat Congress, I'll veto any pro-abortion legislation they pass. I will staff all relevant positions with pro-life appointees. I will use the Bully Pulpit to change hearts and minds, to move this country from a culture of death to a culture of life. I have no desire to throw women in jail, I just want us to stop throwing babies in the garbage."
It is the job of Christians and the Church to give to those in need. Scriptures do not tell us give a portion of our money to the government to be doled out through government bureaus. We are to be His hands and His feet.
I say amen!
Do you think you could post without taking the Lord’s name in vain?
So what? The majority you speak of is spread across various camps, not driving the candidate. Huck's entire candidacy is hinged upon the Christians that are driving him.
He is also polling in 1st or 2nd place nationwide, depending upon the poll, and all of that is being attributed to only one group.
Way to go!
Go, Fred, go!
I agree with the article on JWR the other day that compared Obama as the secular leftist and Huckabee as the religious leftist. The more I see of him, and listen to his remarks, I’d have to say that christians who support him are being decieved by his former title as a Baptist minister. Today, almost anybody can be a minister by their congregation laying hands on them and ordaining them. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they are suitable for the ministry or that they have held their faith. I don’t see him talking about his faith as much as his having been a minister. That says a lot right there! What is he hiding?
